An iDiot's Guide To Lilu and its Plug-ins

Follow the instructions titled Re-setting OSX's Network and System configuration

I reset the network and I am able to see 867 mbps now. Do you have bluetooth working on your system? If yes - what did you had to do to get that working?

Based on my experience I suggest you try AirportBrcmFixup on it's own and remove all other WiFi/Airport enablers, kext's and patches ... as long as your device is supported (see the info.plsit) you should be good to go, if it does not work then you may need to add one of the 3rd party kext enablers mentioned in the readme.md .... please post your success (and failures) below so we can confirm this for other users.
I can confirm this for for my DW1550 (Broadcom BCM94352HMB). In addition, after disabling ACPI->DSDT->Fixes->FixAirport and Devices->FakeID->WIFI the card is now marked as built-in.

Faced a few problems when download big files. They were useless due to corrupted files. Re-enabling ACPI->DSDT->Fixes->FixAirport fixed the problem. Therefore, the fix seems to be still needed.

@K0nrad,

Thanks for the confirmation ... good to know.

@johnyg07,

AirportBrcmFixup fix up only deals with the Airport/WiFi side of the combo card.
Bluetooth works very well, you need to install the following two kext's in /L/E :-
  • BrcmPatchRAM2.kext
  • BrcmFirmwareRepo.kex
Both Kext's are by ReHabMan and can be downloaded from :-

https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-brcmpatchram/downloads/

If you find that Bluetooth still does not work then you may need to tape the enable/disable pins 54 and 56 on the combo card like i had to, which i covered in my DW1830 post :-

https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...7-7500u-kaby-lake.213327/page-17#post-1609866

The paragraph with the link you need is about half way down and refers to 'an old trick' ...

Cheers
Jay

Thanks Jaymonkey. I installed these kexts and bluetooth was recognized as soon as cache was rebuilt.

Hi @jaymonkey After converting to the "merged" WEG some time ago and upon recently having a closer look at the boot args of my clover config.plist I noticed that I never removed the shikigva=16 bootflag, I used to need long ago, to fix iTunes problems. I understand, from reading between the lines, that that bootflag is no longer required and has also not been replaced by a new WEG boot argument. I have now removed shickiva=16 and tested iTunes extensively without any noticeable "negative" effects. Can you also confirm that it is safe to remove the shickiva=16 bootflag. The list of bootflags currently supported by WEG also does not include this particular one.

Greetings

@Henties,

It's a good question as the official WEG documentation is a little vague on what is enabled by default.

My understanding is that the latest version of WEG enables the patch that used to be controlled with the shikigva plugin and bootflag by default in an attempt to reduce the number of overall Lilu/WEG boot flags.

I don't use the boot flag and I haven't seen any video stream related issues on any of my systems that use WEG however I don't use iTunes for video ...

You could try asking the WEG Devs for confirmation on the WEG official support thread :-

https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/325987-whatevergreen-support-topic/

Would be interesting to know what they say so i can update the guide if necessary.

Hi @jaymonkey Thanks for your response, I will certainly follow up on your suggestion as soon as I have a little bit of breathing space and a bit of rest :). I also do not actually use iTunes. My favourite media "players" are Kodi, VLC and lastly Plex. So removing shikigva=16, as a bootflag, poses no problems for me at this stage. Another one I removed is -radnoaudio, but on another site somebody I highly regard technically, wrote in one of his threads that that one is obsolete. Presently I am totally "consumed" in testing Mojave 18A391. I just cannot get the thing to crash, it sleeps and wakes like a dream. In my humble opinion Apple has done a sterling job this time around not forgetting the man years that reputable, gifted and knowledgeable hackers spent their valuable time, you included, that made it all possible for us normal "earthlings" :) Just completed testing a Win 10 Enterprise Virtual Machine, created this morning with the new VMWare fusion 11 Pro. What a dream. I am halfway finished testing a Mojave 18A391 VM, also created this morning on my Skylake build, so far that one proves to be just as stable as its Skylake Mojave 19A391 host. To say the least I am overwhelmed with my test results, the outcome of which I did not expect to be that good.
Greetings for now, you will certainly hear from me again further down the line.

I agree, so far no issues at all for me with Mojave ... probably the most stable first major MacOS release form Apple in a long time, I believe that Lilu and the plug-in's i mentioned in the guide help a lot in that respect.

Cheers

Hi @jaymonkey. During all my years of hacking I wished that an update would soon follow the initial macOS XX,00 upgrade release, This time around I am actually worrying and sort of wish it never happens, and that only 5 days after the Mojave 18A391 final release, amazing :) Times are a changing. Lets cross thumbs and wish/hope for the best in the future for all of us hackers. :)
Cheers it's now time for me to get some rest.

MacOS 10.14.1 is already in public beta which should bring the features missing from the initial release such as the group Face Time .. i don't think it will be long before it's released.

Cheers
