Been looking around, but I can't seem to find a guide on how to install on a fresh SSD.
I am still on Yosemite on another harddrive, and I dont want to touch that.

I was gonna install High Sierra first and then update, but High Sierra is not available to me on the App Store.

Whats the best solution.

Damn, so i have to get a new Graphics card as well?
What is a cheap option, with mini display port.
My screen is a Apple 27" with mini display port.

Edit, i tried to download High Sierra. But it seems to only download an installer. Only 22MB.

if you insisted that updated the OS to Mojave, you have to buy a new graphics card, the onboard HD4000 max resolution is 1920x1200

The resolution max of 1920x1200 of the onboard Intel HD 4000 GPU is due to that particular Gigabyte motherboard, not the HD 4000 itself. On a dfferent Ivy motherboard that GPU is fully capable of higher resolution, all the way to 4K and beyond. I have several of these Z77 and H77 Mini-ITX motherboards and that 1920x1200 resolution ceiling is one of the few unfortunate limitations of these otherwise excellent boards. I recently moved one of my Z77N-Wifi boards to a MATX case just to add an external GPU for this very reason. No room in the tiny Mini-ITX case it had been living in.

FWIW my Z77N-Wifi and H77N-Wifi systems have all been in 24/7 duty for many years now, while iMacs and MacBooks of the same vintage seem to suffer far more age-related issues on average. This seems to be reflected in eBay prices for these older boards, which remain very high to this day despite many younger Gigabyte boards’ resale values dropping every cycle.

Thanks. I was thinking about making a new build. But then I realized, I still dont utilize all the power in this one.
So theres no real reason to build one, except a USB-C port would be nice.
Anyway, can someone recommend a Graphics card with a MD port.

A used AMD R9 280x, R9 270x don’t get XFX brand they have incompatible bios. Or get a newer RX 560, or 580 and a adapter DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort.
