Hello.
I had the hackintosh with my curent hardware since 2014:

MSI Z97 Gaming 5 (With appropriate BIOS settings)
Intel Core i7 4790K
32GB DDR3 G.Skill Ram (actual) 2133 MHz
Gigabyte GTX 980 Gaming G1 4GB GDDR5
Mac OS 10.13.6 High Sierra (Used Yosemite and Sierra previously)
A Windows 10 Installation in an other partition (Not present in this very moment)

The computer ran smoothly with occasional crashes (of the instant reboot type), which were sporadical enough to not be a true problem.
Lately though these crashes-instant reboots have been increasingly more frequent and for the most various reasons.
I now get about 10 crashes per day, sometimes in the span of minutes, some time hours, sometimes while doing nothing, sometimes in intense application.
Some days (rare) no crashes at all, but still the whole deal is a completely unsustainable, specially in my freelance wrking environment.

I was convinced the problem was in OS X only, and i made a separate thread on this forum, but lately I started noticing some issues (although less serious) on my windows partition (yes i also have an additional small Windows 7 hard disk).
I noticed that while on OSX I have a random reboot without the chance of identify the problem, on the PC side i sometimes get a complete and sudden lack of signal to my displays, which is fixed only by resetting the computer.

That gives me an itch that the GPU might be the culprit but I want to know if there's a way to accurately confirm the GPU to be the problem, because it's very ugernt for me to find a solution as i'm now in the middle of some work contracts with very short deadlines, and I literally could only find the money to buy the GPU, not much more.

Can a GPU issue cause a random reboot in OSX? Because I know this sort of problem is usually cause of the power supply, however this doesn't happen on the windows side (which to be fair though I only use 10% of the time, so i'm not 100% it wouldn't happen), and having to buy an additional power supply would serioulsly set me back.

I humbly ask for your help in determining what component of my machine is failing and I humbly thank you for the assistance.

I think you have a hardware problem on your hands, possibly the GPU (the loss of signal on the PC side).

Do you have another working system you can test the GPU on? Or, can you borrow another working GPU to test on your system? That is the sure-fire way to see if the GPU is the problem.

... also, can you take out your GPU and run the Intel iGPU instead to see if the problems go away? That's one test that won't cost you any money, although I'd recommend a full data backup if there is important work held on the PC, just in case etc.
