pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Hi,

Could you specify the model of your MB?
Usually there is a 3 pin connector on your MB you just need to manually short cut two of them.

The location should in your MB manual.
Thanks!

hi and thank for the answer, but I was not talking about the motherboard, it was about the video card, a vega 56, whose first bios got stuck and can not be rewritten ... Fortunately it stuck with a usable bios, but I want to be operative again and can rewrite it with anything else ... Do you think you can help me?

Did you get your mic working? If it's not the physical jack, it has to be a software/driver issue. So far, I believe you've been the only one to report mic issues with this build. Triple check for stuff installed by other methods to fix audio. Also, check /System/Library/Extensions/ for audio kexts that shouldn't be there.

Hi, I gave up on it for a while since I was busy. Still trying to get it to work. I might just go ahead and buy a USB mic.

Normally when you hose a Bios it is normally premaritally Hosed that is why they started giving you two of them. What video card did you break? Maybe you should talk to the manufacture of said video card maybe they will help you.

It doesn't make sense to me how the audio input works fine on my system and doesn't on yours. We have the same motherboard and we are injecting the same audio id... It has to be some sort of kext issue.

Hi @pastrychef, I have the Asus ROG Maximus X Hero ( Wi-Fi AC). Is there anything I have to do differently after I install the OS or can I just copy your EFI folder you have in the downloads? I will only be using the iGPU. I also replaced the WiFi card with the DW1560 but it’s not working for me. Any kexts/patches? Thanks for your post, been a good read.

You can use EFI r3.5. When Apple updates macOS, you can switch EFI r4.4.

The only tihng you will need to do differently is to map out your USB ports on your own and create your own SSDT for USB.

If you are using the DW1560, you will need additional kexts and KextsToPatches. Check FakePCIID and BrcmPatchRAM for instructions. Pay caraful attention to the filenames for BrcmPatchRAM. There are several files with very similar names and can be easily confused.

I just stumbled upon a recent video (posted to YouTube on May 24, 2018) comparing Premiere Pro performance between an i9-9740XE vs an i7-8700K, albeit in Windows. Besides the comparison between the two CPUs, it also highlights how much then IGPU helps performance. I hope you guys find it as informative as I did.

Hey, thanks for your help. I tried EFI r3.5 but my 27" LG Ultra HD would not go beyond 1080, with DP or HDMI. I updated to 17G2208 and am now using the EFI linked in post 2485. My display seems to work at full resolution 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz when I have "Scaled - More Space". Should I used the EFI in 2485 or switch to EFI r4.4?

I got my DW1560 using the the kexts you mentioned.

If you are on 17G2112, you can use r4.4.
