[Guide] HP ProBook/EliteBook/Zbook using Clover UEFI hotpatch

Hi Everyone!

I plan to replace my Lenovo T420 hackintosh with an EliteBook 8470p.

The reason is, since high sierra I get screen freezes quite ofteb (even with Mojave beta) and it is not possible to fix. It might be a HD3000 issue so I’m hoping with the HD4000 I can have a reliable hackintosh.

Can anyone from the 8470p users here confirm it is a stable machine under High Sierra (or even Mojave beta)? I’m thinking about the 8470p due to the 1600x900 screen and low price, but if there are other models supported by this guide that were found to work better at a similar price, I would be interested in them.

I really appreciate your help.
Thank you.

Hey there!

I wanted to try my second hackintosh with my HP Elitebook 820 G1 but I have no Keyboard/Trackpad/USB-Mouse support for installing OSX from USB-Stick using UniBeast 8.3.2. So I can‘t click anything for continuing the install. It stopps where I have to setup the language...

Can anyone help me?
Thanx!
Parker

Setup:
HP Elitebook 820 G1
Intel Core i5 4300U Haswell
Intel HD Graphics
8 GB RAM
128GB m.2 NGFF SSD 42mm
180GB 2.5“ SATA Intel SSD

You need VoodooPS2controllerkext in your clover other folder. Or for now you could try a USB keyboard and mouse.

Unsupported laptops

If you think your laptop might be similar to the ones listed as supported, but needs only small tweaks, please provide the following information:

- native DSDT/SSDT files extracted via Clover F4 (ACPI/origin)
- audio codec dump from Linux
- full hardware details (CPU, chipset, graphics device, screen resolution, etc)
- output from 'lspci -nn' in Linux Terminal

Hello @RehabMan my laptop model does not have an install script (think so), it's a ProBook 6470b that was working wit the old guide (Install 10.11 on HP EliteBook/ProBook/others with Clover UEFI). I provide the requested information, hoping it's complete and just need small tweaks.

Thanks for reading (and replying)!

Hi,

I have followed the guide and everything is working fine except on little thing:

I get a 60 seconds timeout on AppleIntelCapriController (or something like this) and this causes a slow boot and the GPU gets detected but no QE acceleration at all. Sometimes if I get lucky on some boots I do get QE but it's random and I still can't figure why.

I have attached the debug files needed in order to take a better look.

Thanks a lot !

EDIT: For the QE acceleration to work I needed to delete the SSDT generated by PikerAlpha's script. I tried with -w 3 and also -c 3 but same results although the CPU is working great and turbo without a problem but I don't get GPU acceleration for some reason. I hope this helps.

SSDT.aml - is generated by PikerAlpha's script. But still..Idk why isn't working. I tought that Clover isn't loading SSDT-4x40s but that isn't the case here. All 4 SSDT's are loaded

Solved

Hello, I havent looked into hackintosh for a long time... But today I got a elitebook g5 830. specs: https://support.hp.com/rs-en/document/c05898590

is this worth looking into dual booting with ubuntu? what I am specifically looking into is having wifi card in promiscious mode so that I can run some macos-only apps....

wifi card: Realtek RTL8822BE
lspci | grep Wireless
01:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 8265 / 8275 (rev 78)

I've followed the guide (used Clover in UEFI only mode) step by step, and boot & install went through fine - however, when I try to boot installed system (still using Clover from my USB stick), I get just a black screen after a short period of loading bar (5-10 seconds).

I've checked my graphics settings - memory allocation is set to required 64 MB, so I am kinda lost. What else could cause this issue?

I think yes. This Realtek RTL8822BE seems to be supported via kexts so you can do it

HP Probook 4530s 8GB RAM, Samsung evo 850 256 GB / macOS 10.13.6

problems:

- macOS freezes when i use Android Studio (when typing something from the keyboard)

- White and black lines when using some screen capturing software (quicktime, monosnap)
