[Solved] "The application System Information can't be opened"

Greetings everyone!

I've been using my High Sierra Hackintosh for almost a month. However, after downloading Geekbench 4 (just for leisure), I noticed that in the Memory info it says "16.0 GB 0 MHz RAM". As I thought this was a mere glitch, I tried to open "About this Mac", and nothing happened. So, I went to open System Information, just to get the following message: The application "System Information" can't be opened.



I'm not sure what happened or when, because I used to be able to open this application without any issues before.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Just ask me if you need me to show you anything.

Well we don't know much about your build but first thing I would do is check the boot drive using DiskUtil. It could be that the System Information application is on a corrupted part of the drive - assuming that otherwise your machine is operating okay. It's in the Utilities subdirectory of the Applications folder.

If that comes back fine then you could try a re-install, choosing to keep all your documents and settings. This takes twice as long as a normal install but doesn't erase or format. (Back up for safety sake beforehand though - especially your EFI folder and config).

All depends on what version of macOS you are on and how you installed etc.

For the record, I'm running Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6, and installed it using the last version of Unibeast. My RAM is made of a pair of G.Skill's 8 GB DDR4 2400 MHz.

Dang! I never thought it would be a problem if I moved it out of Utilities! In fact, I moved System Preferences, Disk Utility, Console and some other stuff to a "System" folder I created within the Applications directory. I changed it back now, and works again! Thank you!
