How to extend the iMac Pro to X99 [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

@kgp

I thought I'd let you know that I just picked up a new Ethernet 10G card, the Sonnet Presto SoloG 10GbE card.

The reason I was interested in it was because Sonnet claimed it would perform natively in a macOS running 10.13.4 or greater. And it's true, it works without any flashing of any kind, it does not need a kext, or any patch!

Performance is roughly equivalent to the Aquantia/Intel X540. Which, for most folks, is fine. As long as they are running 10.13.4 or greater, it literally is plug and play.

More details can be found here (post 300): https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/high-sierra-native-support-for-10gb-ethernet.239690/page-30 and on Sonnet's website.

The info about the Sonnet 10GB NIC already reached me few days ago from different source..;)

Great discovery and innovation, isn‘t it? :headbang:

Over on the 10G Ethernet thread, we regularly have users that can't find a copy of 10.13.3 to flash the Aquantia cards. Now they don't have to! Just buy the Sonnet and you're done. And the Sonnet, at least here in the US, is only $99 (the same price as the Asus Aquantia card).

Yes, this is a nice improvement!

Hey all,

I'm running an older version of this guide from back in February on 10.13.3 and MacPro6,1. I have not yet updated to 10.13.5 per the current suggestion of this guide (as I'm very wary of downtime on my main work machine).

Yesterday, I was updating my Windows drivers to try to isolate an issue with USB3 and my MOBO (which is a whole other story... be wary of x99 deluxe boards if you want to avoid USB3 boot hangs in both Windows and Mac). I updated my bluetooth driver in Windows. My bluetooth suddenly stopped working in MacOS, showing "Bluetooth:not available" in the toolbar and no tab in the System Preferences. I'm using the built in unit which came with the Asus X99 Deluxe II motherboard. I have tried updating kexts (BrcmNonPatchRAM2.kext / BrcmPatchRAM2.kext / BrcmFirmwareRepo.kext), switching out FirmwareRepo with FirmwareData, and replacing them all with BrcmBluetoothInjector.kext.

Any thoughts on how I might be able to address this? Would be very appreciated.

Asus x99 Deluxe II
i7 6950x
Gigabyte GeForce Aorus 1080 Ti Waterforce (PCIe_1)
NVMe x 2 (1 in PCIe_3, one in m.2 slot)
Gigabyte Alpine Ridge Thunderbolt 3 card (PCIe_5)

@kgp You might want to note that the Sonnet card is using an Aquantia AQC107 chipset (just found that out because of the Windows drivers).

Thus, the windows drivers are different fron those for the patched ASUS Aquantia NIC?

Can you distribute the appropriate Windows drivers?

Honestly, I don't think they are different, but here you go.....direct from Sonnet's site (via Aquantia's site, actually)....
