I'm confused why you're going through so much trouble. My machine was working totally fine "out of the box" using the aforementioned guides. Are you trying to add additional features that were not provided through the guides?

^ just making things run as they should, seems we got a somewhat rare combination down here with the 5y71 and the qhd display
just been trying to cut back and minimise modifications if i can
also made the mistake of digging through the boot up messages too, bad habit of wasting too much time getting rid of things which may or may not matter

makes me warm and fuzzy knowing everything's good under the hood :) have gotten my installation to a state I'm fairly happy with though it seems to just shut down completely when it gets to about 17% battery instead of giving me warnings

Any brave souls willing to update to Mojave lol

Any brave souls willing to update to Mojave lol

Works well on a fresh install of Mojave from USB.
Couldn't make trackpad.prefpane work so used latest version of ApplePS2SmartTouchPad which works well but doesn't seem compatible with the AsusNBFnKeys as others noted.
Had to use VoodooHDA as couldn't get any patched AppleHDA but I suspect that's my ignorance.

The vanilla trackpad prefpane works fine using the latest version of ApplePS2SmartTouchPad (v4.7 beta 5).
  • This seems to conflict with AsusNBFnKeys.kext, as I believe later versions of smarttouchpad made accommodations for Asus keyboards. My volume keys work fine, but my brightness keys don't. I haven't tested very heavily and it may just be my setup that's wrong.
hey. Where did you get the kext? Where should the prefpane go?

Not able to resolve these dsl compile error. Please help me to resolve the same.

I still have an issue with enabling HDMI audio. Can anyone help? I have loaded both DummyHDA and VoodooHDA kexts but the sound is only working with built-in speakers and headphones.
