Hi,

I currently have the original build from this thread. In order to upgrade my Adobe CC Suite, which I need for work, I need to update my OS. I'm looking to upgrade from from Yosemite to High Sierra or Sierra.

I've tried combing through this forum, and think I have a basic idea where to start, but I don't want to make too many assumptions. Also, is it best to start with a fresh install? I don't have many things I need to retain, just a lot of storage on a separate HD.

personally for me the installation of an ordinary Sierra was easier. I think you should start with it (if you do not use nvme). You can install in a test mode to another disk or a USB flash drive new system. And after a successful installation, copy with carbon cloner to the desired disk.

I'd never thought of installing on a separate drive. Do you recommend a specific SSD to install it on? I figured there would be incompatibilities between my old hardware from this original build and the newer macOS (Sierra). Is that not the case?

Do you plan to upgrade the hardware? When I upgraded the hardware (I switched from the chipset from Z87 to Z370), the system continued to work without reinstallation (was installed Sierra and I didn't touch it ). I just changed EFI folder with the necessary settings.

Updated to Clover UEFI Boot Mode v2.4k r4586.
Updated via Appstore to Mohave.
System feels solid and fast. Looked forward to dark mode, but not a fan.

Lost sound which was to be expected.
Since I am using the Apple Display speakers that list as USB I will wait to fix this until a certified version of Multibeast is out.

This is strange, because I never had to install any drivers for the card - it was always recognised out of the box since Mavericks.

I use the TP-Link card TL-WDN4800 PCI Express N900.

Could anyone give me a hint how to restore the functionality?
I don't know where the kext file for this card could have ended up, or how it is called, now where it should go.
I have a parallel installation of High Sierra so maybe I could pickup the file from there.

Apple removed AirPortAtheros40.kext (found inside IO80211Family.kext, supporting many Atheros Wifi cards) in 10.14.
Try adding it with v12.0 from High Sierra - See post #263

Thank you that helped! I got the file from the post and installed with Kextbeast. Wifi is back on.

You are referring to the v12 of the AirPortAtheros40.kext, but in the download there is the version v7.0 from 2013.
I found the IO80211Family.kext and IO80211FamilyV2.kext in the high Sierra installation, but lack the abilities to extract the AirPortAtheros40.kext from it.

System reports in the WIFI section:

You are referring to the v12 of the AirPortAtheros40.kext, but in the download there is the version v7.0 from 2013.

My bad, IO80211Family.kext is v12, the AirPortAtheros40.kext is v7.0

Right click on IO80211Family.kext, select Show Package Contents, open Contents folder, open Plugins folder, copy AirPortAtheros40.kext

Not sure but AFAIK this card uses the Broadcom bcm4360 chip.
