You can be the first to test the required changes for Mojave.
layout-id 3 cannot be used anymore, so I switched the repo to use layout-id 2.
Make sure you update everything (config.plist, ACPI/patched/SSDT-HACK.aml, run install_download.sh again to get new AppleHDA_ALC290.kext)

Hi @RehabMan , flawless update to High Sierra without converting to APFS here, following your directions, perfect as always! I can't seem, however, to get audio back, a problem I already had going to ElCap from Mavericks, but that time your kext cache wipe suggestion worked, this time it's not doing the magic. I also have an error code -43 every time I tried deleting a file from anywhere using the Finder, whereas rm in Terminal works. Tried VoodooHDA, but it only activates "undercarriage" speakers and is KP-prone. I already did all the steps under System updates and audio troubleshooting in OP. Any help is really appreciated, flawless system otherwise!

Read FAQ, "Problem Reporting" again. Carefully. Attach all requested files/output.

Use the gen_debug.sh tool mentioned in the FAQ, that way it is less likely you'll omit something.

Sorry about that, the only thing missing was the F4 at clover screen. Here you go, this is generated with the script

As per post #1, "Known Problems", "Audio", you need to boot without caches, rebuild cache, then reboot.
Also, don't forget to run ./install_downloads.sh (and make sure it is using regenerated AppleHDA_IDT76e0_Envy.kext that uses the new layout-id).

Hi RehabMan, I followed your guide and I can't get audio to work. I've tried the new layout id (recompiled it), updated the DSDT and config.plist but it still isn't working. I've also cleared caches with the boot flag -f. Can you help me out? I have the 15J, with Beats audio and I'm running 10.13.2

All steps that I've already tried, I have rebuilt caches on a no-cache boot and ran the script: AppleHDA_IDT76e0_Envy.kext gets correctly installed but it doesn't recognize any audio device.
