Dear all,

I have build a mac pro some years ago (June 2012) asis:
Initial Mac OS version: Mavericks
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H (initially F4)
Graphic Card: Msi GeForce GTX 660Ti
24 Mbytes of Ram
Three monitors: Dell 2x UltraSharp 30 inches (U3011) and later on an extra Dell UltraSharp U3415W 34-Inch Curved because it was not possible to find another 39 inches :-/ What ever it was functioning perfectly
All the updates of Mac OS were perfect and I update my system Later-2016 with Sierra and Clover. Current version 10.12.x

I wanted to upgrade to High Sierra as on may MacBook Pro 15 2018 but the graphical card was not supported.
Some days ago (maybe due to high temperature of the current Summer !?) one screen died out and came back after a while... It's strange.
I bought a new graphical card Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1060 2 GB.

After switching to the new graphical card I encounter the following problems:

1) At boot level it was not possible to enter into the Bios. So I've update the initial F4 Bios to F14 and I was able to resolve that issue.
2) After Clover appears, I let the system continuing to boot BUT I encountered a Panic Black Screen.... :-/

As it's not a fresh installation, could someone help me to explain all necessary steps to have my system working with this NEW graphical card?

PS To avoid multiple potential problems, I've connected only ONE screen and using the DVI connector.

Thank you very much in advance to you !

@DanGus, please update your profile (personal details) with your Motherboard, CPU and iGPU or Graphics Card.
If you have multiple systems add them to your signature or build signature.
The Rules said:
Profiles are mandatory so that others can assist you.

BIOS - Disable Integrated Graphics - PEG as Primary
Use a digital connection to your monitor - VGA is not supported.
Boot with nv_disable=1
Install Nvidia Web Drivers
Config.plist - Do not inject Intel or Nvidia graphics and no ig-platform-id
Edit config.plist - NvidiaWeb = true as per Link
May need to emulate NVRAM - Problem 6 (Install EmuVariableUefi-64 + RC Scripts) or install AptioMemoryFix or OsxAptioFix3Drv
Remove nv_disable=1 from config.plist
MacPro 6,1 or iMac 15 or iMac 17 System Definition need black screen fix as per Link

Dear Brebo,
Thank you first for your reply and summary actions.

As you know I would like to change my previous GeForce GTX 660 TI with the new GTX 1060 one.

Now, Sierra 10.12.6 is running and my system has been identified as "macOS 10.12.6 (16G1408)" in About/System Report/Software" and "iMac14,2" in About/System Report/Hardware.

I saw your reply in a previous Post of somebody else and I performed the following as suggested:

BIOS ... => OK
Use a digital ... => I used the DVI connector ...
Boot with ... => OK
and
==> Panic screen

And from here I decided to create a new Thread.

Based on all links you provided I pre-check everything that should be performed and the first thing I've identified is the fact that I've never install Nvidia driver using Clover EFU v2 as there is nothing in System Preferences. I guess the previous graphical card (gtx 660 TI) was directly compatible with Sierra ... correct ?

So my next question is:

Do I need to install the Nvidia Web Driver using the only working gtx 660 TI BEFORE switching to the new one?

Thank you very much for your reply ;-)

You can do it that way or you can install the graphics card and boot with nv_disable=1 and then install the web drivers.

Thank you ;-)

If I understand well, the principle is to disable the inserted graphical card; use the internal graphical card and modify appropriated parameters in config.plist, right?

I've installed the Nvidia driver first.

Does the point of Brebo, hereafter, means what I did ?

'"BIOS - Disable Integrated Graphics - PEG as Primary"

I've disabled the Intern GPU, use the flag nv_disable, verbose and not reboot when crash and here is the result... through Clover...

Panic screen again appeared :-/

Refer to the attached picture if you d'int mind.

Sorry to annoy you guys but it's the first time I go so deep in the configuration ...

*Please Note:
The FakeSMC_GPUSensors.kext in FakeSMC Plugins v6.25-333-g05e0f4be.1759 is NOT compatible with NVIDIA Pascal graphics cards. If you do not delete it from /Library/Extensions your system will kernel panic on boot.

Boot in safe mode and remove the offending kext.

Great ! I finally have the system running and at this stage with only one screen.

Now, I see the Nvidia Driver Manager in Preferences.

The current problem is the following:

The Dell UltraSharp 30 inches (U3011) is detected as here in the picture attached.

Before attaching two other monitors, could you let me know by which procedure I would be able to change the resolution specific to this model? Through Nvidia Driver Manager ?

After writing this message I check through the Nvidia Driver Manager and so the checkbox to use the NVIDIA Web Driver at the place of the initial 1024x ... of Apple.

It's perfect and I thank you very much for your fantastic help ;-)

Best regards,

Daniel
