How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Going through the debugging process to see what is causing the USB not to boot. If it was an error in my procedure following the guide then the UniBeast would have at least allowed it to boot. If the patched bios was causing the issue then a reflash would have fixed it and I could have dealt with sleep/wake at another point. By the your post to tell me to restart the USB boot process I already reformatted it and started again multiple times.

Even though I have 3 USBs, none of them will work. Am going to purchase a different brand and see what happens.

Try to to delete (remove) any partition on the USB Stick under Windows. Then, try to reformat the USB stick under OSX with HFS+ and a GUID partition table. Then start from scratch with the USB Installer creation.

Can somebody else check if something concerning the createmedia approach changed with the last macOS versions and if the approach outlined in the guide is still valid?

This makes me headache already...

Your install macos.app ist complete? Did you download it from Appstore?

Deleted partition on windows, reformatted with HFS+ and GUID PT. Started from scratch.

No change in result.

Yes, macOS.app is complete @ 5.23GB. Downloaded from App Store

There’s something wrong with the USB prep or try another port. I think I remember needing to add a file to .IABoot to get it to work the first time when I first attempted my build.

Hi @xerox24 I use a X299 Mark 2 and I haven't got the PCI implementation right. Could you share yours or teach me how to do it right?
@hoeman I have the mark 1,give me a copy of your ioreg and tell me what system you have, graphic card, cpu.
if you want I'll share my ssdt.

Hi,

@AcineL: I will try formatting on Windows as well. I just don’t have time right now to start multiple times over - I wish I had. I tried a couple of times. Unfortunately no other USB sticks at hand.

Good luck.

Tried different ports, and added the .IAboot file as per the instructions.

Tried with two other USB models, same result. Going to take a break from trying to build this right now unless anyone can copy a drive image from a clean install so I can boot that way.

Thanks for all the help KGP!

Which USB ports are you using?

2.0 through headers, 2.0 on back panel, 3.1 on header, 3.1 on back panel.

Try making a Windows 10 install USB and see if it boots with that. If it does then it’s your USB prep. If it doesn’t then it’s either the motherboard (try reflashing the BIOS maybe?) or it’s all your USB drives have something weird wrong with them. Try booting another computer with the USB too. That will help eliminate/confirm the motherboard/USB drive/prep as potential culprit.

Strange.. maybe @AcineL passed the issue to me? Not able to create a bootable macOS 10.13.5 USB Flash Drive Installer either now. @flmmkr, did you check if it still works in your case?
