I am long time mac user and I am attempting my first Hackintosh build. I purchased an Asus Prime X299 Deluxe and a Intel Core i9-7920X processor.
I started here:
UniBeast: Install macOS High Sierra on Any Supported Intel-based PC but got stuck on Step 4 when I could not get past a screen with a circle and a line through it. This brought me to this thread where I saw that someone had successfully gotten a Hackintosh running on an Asus Prime X299 Deluxe motherboard.
The instructions on the first page of this thread are a little intimidating to me. I am tech savvy but I have not spent much time working on computers other than Mac. I have tried to read through many of this 817 page thread and I am feeling a little overwhelmed.
A few questions:
1: If I modify the bios on my Asus Prime X299 Deluxe to make it a Hackintosh will I still be able to boot back to Windows and run it as standard Windows computer? I am little worried about screwing up the bios and bricking it.
2: Where would you start if you were attempting this today? The instructions on the first page of this thread are about a year old and since there are 817 pages to this thread I am wondering if it's a mistake for me to start the process by following the instructions on the first page only to find out on page 800 of this thread that the process has now been simplified.
3. I currently have Windows 10 installed on one of the two M.2 drives that I installed. Can I install my Hackinstosh OS directly to the second M.2 Drive or do I need to install to a standard SSD connected to one the SATA ports?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
