Hi all,
I wish share with you my experience with Asus Rampage IV Black Edition (a.k. RIVBE), when you have to use a NVME PCIE SSD (I've two 960 pro, one for windows, one for MacOS 10.13).

I add the nvme pcie driver on the last bios (0801 Beta) following this guide.

It work flawlessy!

System boot correctly with clover on the efi partition on the nvme pcie disk (also work with windows 10, without Clover).


HOW TO:
1. Acquire a USB Thumb Drive
2. Format the USB drive with a FAT32 file system
3. Download the attached bios, unzip
4. Be sure to rename your file R4BE.CAP
5. Place the USB drive into the ROG Connect USB Port
5. Hold the Rog connect button down for 5 seconds and an amber light near the BIOS chips will flash for several seconds and when flashing has stopped the BIOS has been successfully updated.

All done!

Now you can boot directly from your NVME pcie disk (with pcie adapter).

I tried to install your modded 801 beta on my R4BE and after power on, it’s stuck in a boot loop. I tried installing it via bios and it says it’s not UEFI so doesn’t let me install it. Any suggestions?

My goal is to install a Samsung 960 Pro M.2 PCIe using a PCIe adapter as my win 10 pro boot drive.

Any suggestions on how to install your modded bios for NVMe support?

I suggest
- reset all the bios parameters (push the reset bios button on the back) and try boot again.

If nothing change:
- reload the originals bios (both, so you have the backup in case something goes wrong)
- reload the mod bios as suggested in the post #1
- when finished reset all the bios parameters (push the reset bios button on the back)
- try booting


It should work.

After... when you finish upload my mod bios, reset BIOS parameters.


In other words reset BIOS after the bios upgrade is complete.
Set BIOS parameters as you did when installed osx.
It should work.

You don't see your Samsung drive.
you see only the windows boot manager.

When the PC reboots hit F2 to go back into the BIOS, you will see under boot priority that windows boot manager now lists your NVME drive.

Kernel Panic I get after connecting my 970 EVO NVMe via PCIex4 adapter

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SO, when ever I try to copy large data to my NVME connected to the Rampage IV Black Edition, I get this KP as the copy process stops mid-way.

I've updated the BIOS to the modded 0801 (NVMe) and tried the original 0801 from Asus's site. Both give me kernel panics when I'm copying data from my O/S SSD to the 970 NVME.
