This is strange but I guess NvidiaGraphicsFixup or Whathevergreen do something to fix the black screen issue. But at this point if you're using a Radeon I think it would make more sense to use Whathevergreen...

I keep repeating but you do not need WhateverGreen or Lilu (unless you use other kext combos with Lilu) with AMD cards in 10.13.4

On my 2nd system I do not have WG and I put nVidiaGraphicFixup and it enables the 2nd port (HDMI) so I can use multi monitors DP+HDMI. Without nVidiaGraphicFixup I only get 1 display.

I know and Indeed I am not using any graphic kexts...! But a kind of patch (like the disable board id) is needed to use 18,3

It is the same as you.
I need to use nVidiaGraphicFixup or a patch to disable board-id check.
If I do not use it, 2nd port (HDMI) will not work.
Perhaps nVidiaGraphicFixup will contain the same functionality as patch disabling board-id check.

Installed a MSI RX 560 now, but Safari seems sluggish, like when scrolling Twitch's video list (https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Fortnite for example). Chrome seems OK on that same page, and Cinebench gives 118 fps so that seems OK too. So my problem seems isolated to Safari.

Using Lilu, WhateverGreen, IntelGraphicsFixup, injected ig-platform-id: 59120000 as well (so AirPlay to AppleTV works too).

Any suggestion/pointer? Thanks!

Hi there.

I guess you need the iGPU for specific software, or AirPlay and AppleTV? Rendering?

Personally I have it set to Auto in BIOS, which means it gets turned off once the discrete GPU is detected, and don't load any Intel kexts or spoof an Intel iGPU, so basically it's not there.

I don't get any lag in Safari compared with Chrome, or anywhere else.

So might it be the two GPUs somehow conflicting?

You could always remove Lilu and Whaevergreen as they are not needed for an RX 560 since 10.13.4 (although this would mean IntelGraphicsFixup wouldn't load either) and test to see if there was a difference.

I'm not the expert but I guess you need the iGPU for specific software, or AirPlay and AppleTV? Personally I have it set to Auto (basically Off) in BIOS and don't load and Intel kexts or spoof an Intel iGPU.

I don't get any lag in Safari compared with Chrome, or at all. Having said that I don't have an AppleTV though.

Well I'm seeing the problem with or without doing the ig-platform-id: 59120000 part, and Auto or not the IGPU in BIOS. So IGPU doesn't seem to be the issue, and actually gives me the bonus of streaming to AppleTV (which I couldn't before with Nvidia).

Ah, right.

I was just editing my first comment to add more...

In that case check the version of Whatevergreen you are using. I believe the latest is 1.1.7, specifically for 10.13.4, but I've stayed with 1.1.4 (why mend something that's not broken?)

Worth checking?
