May be NVMe SSD problem. Try a different device for the install target.

Sorry, just to be clear: ie. put a different NVME ssd into the brand new laptop?

I am currently building up a new USB installer on a different make of USB drive as well.

Or M.2 SATA.
Or install to a USB device (you might do some work on your USB configuration first, as installing to USB2 will be slow, and USB3 is probably not working correctly without proper USBInjectAll.kext configuration).
You could also check that the NVMe device you already have is up-to-date with respect to latest OEM firmware.

Make sure it is USB2.
Not a bad idea... since it could be source or destination problem.

Update:

1. I tried installation with a new 16GB USB2 drive on the existing NVMe drive - same results - failure

2. I swapped out the NVMe drive with Samsung 850 EVO (m.2 SATA) 500gb drive that I had available. Re-tried installation with the new USB2 installation drive - same results - failure.

However, this time I was able to save the report from the installer log, attached.

The log shows the installer is crashing.
No further ideas possible without the EFI/Clover you're using.

Clover 4439, new preboot.log attached

Edit: clover zip attached as well, although it should be identical as before.

What version of AptioMemoryFix.efi are you using?
(RehabMan build of Clover has latest built from source).
Note that as of yesterday, RehabMan Clover updated to r4444. Also, guide plists were updated...

You could also try OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi + EmuVariableUefi-64.efi.

Your issue may also be BIOS setting related.

Are you booting with invalid ig-platform-id, or are you running with full graphics?
You're doing APFS install or HFS+J?

If full graphics, DVMT-prealloc is set to what?

AptioMemoryFix.efi is from the last Clover 4439 package
It is booting with full graphics.
APFS install
DVMT-prealloc is set to 64MB (set via EFI-Shell)

I'll try an install with OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi + EmuVariableUefi-64.efi next
