Clover: Frequently Asked Questions

because installs the last apfs.ef? Or this won't affect in High Sierra 10.13.2?
macOS High Sierra installer apps install the appropriate apfs.efi, not Cover.

ok thanks, just got confused because it says: "Installs OsxAptioFix3Drv-64.efi and apfs.efi in /EFI/CLOVER/Drivers64UEFI/. Includes CustoMac default config.plist for UEFI-based systems."

The tonymacx86 version of Clover does do that using the apfs.efi from the macOS version on which you run the Clover installer. Saves you from having to do it with the standard Clover installer. See...we're looking out for you.

Tested to work on your hackintosh. Two versions - UEFI and Legacy. No need to know what Clover installer options to choose.

Additionally, each UEFI And Legacy build has two installers. One for Nvidia graphics to keep NVRAM across boots. The other for other graphics. An additional script is avail to remove the older Clover (pre 4411) method of maintaining NVRAM before installing the new Clover method.

3 questions please!

1. You mentioned 2 versions of installer. One for Nvidia (which is suitable for me since I have a GTX770) BUT I cannot find this Nvidia version. Is this autodetect?

2. You mentioned above that apfs.efi is included in clover efi from tonymac. I downloaded/installed the legacy version (since that's I'm using on my dual LGA2011-1 setup) and I cannot this file. I am looking at /Volumes/ESP/EFI/CLOVER/drivers64UEFI.

If it makes a difference, I created the USB on my MBP. I used the createinstallmedia and then I installed the tonymac clover on top.

3. How do I know I have/need an NVRAM? setup in my sig.

Thanks a lot again!

1. & 3. You only need the Nvidia version of Clover if you're running the Nvidia drivers. Some GTX 760/770 cards are supported natively by macOS. Others that use the GDDR5 memory need the Nvidia drivers.

If you don't know if you're using the Nvidia drivers, you don't need them. Then, updating to the regular "Clover UEFI Boot Mode v2.4k r4428" installer will work just fine.

If you are using the Nvidia drivers, use the "Clover UEFI Boot Mode with Emulated NVRAM v2.4k r4428" installer. But, if you're running a Clover version earlier than r4400, then first run "Clover Emulated NVRAM Uninstaller".

2. You can get apfs.efi here > https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/how-to-update-current-and-past-apfs-efi-downloads.236103

What version of the tonymacx86 Clover did you use?

legacy. thanks a lot for the help!
OK. Then, don't use the UEFI versions of Clover that I was talking about in the above posts. Use the "Legacy" versions.
