Sorry for being late on this. But i thought I would upload the config file prior to updating it. I plan on removing the CPU ID spoof for skylake since 10.12.6 no supports kaby lake natively. I am also going to make sure that HD graphics are working fully so that the GPU can be disabled for any trouble shooting.

This config has been working for almost a year now and has been pretty much flawless. I will however remove any smbios or serial numbers I am using for my particular machine, so keep that in mind.

Here is an updated config.list without the fake CPU and GPU ID as well as a clean up of patches for the HD630 support. If you are running 10.12.6 this is a good config for you. Not only does this give kaby lake support, but the HD630 graphics are working flawlessly. I do have the IntelGraphicsFixup.kext installed as well. This gives me relief for any troubleshooting that may ever need to happen if the nvidia bugs out.

On a side note, after doing the most recent security update for 10.12.6 I had a kernel panic in a boot loop. It required a Lilu kext update to get working properly. I had some grief because of an accidental Lilu kext loaded in the s/l/e folder instead of the c/k/o folder. Not sure how one ended up in s/l/e but be aware of this and remove it if you are having issues.

Update February 17, 2018

Mac OS 10.12.6 - I was able to remove the CPU and GPU spoof ID. This worked perfectly and was able to add more stable support for HD630 graphics. I was able to remove all current iGPU patches in my config file and use the most recent kext for the HD630 loaded from MultiBeast. Everything on iGPU works perfect and is buttery smooth. Its a relief having a secondary and backup display working now. I did run into an issue with doing this most recent security update, but it was a simple fix and a mistake on my own end. Lilu.kext needed to be updated, and what made matters worse is there was a copy loaded in to s/l/e that I was unaware of. Updating it on C/k/O did not fix the problem without removing it from /S/L/E/ first. It gave me a little grief tracking this down so I thought I would share for anyone else getting kernel errors on boot right after the update.

Mac OS 10.13.3 - After getting things tightened up with the process above, I decided it might be a good time to update to High Sierra. I followed the original guide for updating from this site, including loading the proper APFS driver. Everything went smooth for the most part. The only thing I ran into was I had continued to use my iGPU after testing in 10.12.6. The booting in to setup was giving me issues, and I spent most of my time trying to fix it in the iGPU. I think it had to do with iGPU kexts and options being loaded through clover that could have been fixed. But I learned that switching to my discrete GTX 980 ended up booting perfectly, with a loss of display resolution. I had thought originally that HD630 would be easier to use but in this case it saved me some time to just use the discrete. Happy to say that after updating all the kexts for High Sierra compatibility, everything is running smooth and normal. I will continue to update the status below and I check everything out.

Whats Working

Pretty much everything.

(Updated February 17, 2018)

  • Intel HD 630 - Working perfectly with standard MultiBeast kexts.
  • Nvidia GTX 980 - Overall no problems really. If you missed the note above, make sure you use emuvariableuefi-64 or the web driver will not initialize.
  • HDMI Audio - I have not tested this yet. Will update after I do but I think its working after patches in the guide.
  • Onboard Ethernet - Working as normal with IntelMausiEthernet drivers. Use the latest kext with Kext Beast.
  • Realtek Audio - Working! I was a little slow to test this, but I went ahead and loaded the kexts needed and plugged it in. Everything seems to work as normal.
  • USB Audio - I have used 2 channel interfaces all the way up to 32 channel. Works as expected!
  • USB 3.1 Ports - Seem to be working but I have nothing to test them with.
  • USB 3.0 Ports - Working after taking the steps in the guide above. They seem full speed after transferring files as well. MultiBeast port increase patch did not work for me this time.
  • USB 2.0 Header Ports - These work fine too. This motherboard lacks any USB 2. 0
  • Inboard WiFi - I didn't even realize the motherboard had this when I ordered it so not necessary for me. But doesn't seem to work out of the box but maybe with modification.
  • Thunderbolt Option - I do not own the card so I have no way of testing yet. But this might be on the future list.
  • iMessage - Working with the guide above. It has worked several times for me so there shouldn't be issues.
  • Sleep/Wake - Works as expected.
  • Other - I ordered a TP-Link N900 thinking it would work out of the box. However it wont boot with my current configuration so that is on standby.

@Delphius first of all thank you for your guide because it helped me a lot when I've installed Sierra on my Hackintosh. I almost have the same configuration like you (i7 7700k, Z270M Mortar, 16GB, GTX 980 and Intel HD 630) I have a dual boot system with Windows 10 and Mac OS. Everything is working flawlessly including sleep and video but sometimes I'm getting randomly crashes usually when I'm working with Photoshop or just browsing pictures in finder. It freezes for few seconds then it restarts and if I don't boot with safe mode option every time it goes to Mac OS and crashes a few seconds after logging in to Mac OS. I've attached my config.plist so if you see something unusual please let me know.

I looked through your config list and have a few questions for you. I see a lot of patches in the ACPI section that I dont recognize off hand. Im guessing some of them are related to your GPU display output configuration? Is everything with your GPU detecting correctly in mac OS? Is this error happening only in Photoshop or in other GPU extensive programs or games? Just trying to get some more information on your computers status.

Thank you for your quick reply and yes they are related to display output configuration. Everything is detected correctly in mac OS. The crash happens randomly: when I use Photoshop but only when I try to open a photo in Photoshop, in Finder when I browse for pictures and even when I boot back from Windows I get crashes all the time (few seconds after login, freezes and restarts) but when I add Inject Intel it works normally. Should I keep Inject Intel checked all the time?

I think injecting intel is totally fine to keep even if you are not using it. Especially if you have any patches already set for intel graphics. I had also noticed that your nvidia web inject is also disabled so I was surprised the GTX 980 is initializing correctly.

I use a different profile on my hackintoshes, I think 16,2 instead of 18,3. I have better luck with graphics on that profile even though it shows an older model of iMac. I also felt that the upgrade to high sierra fixed a few things graphically by default without any patches applied in the config list. Though experience may vary on your system. I havnt had any random reboots or anything in the nature you are describing on either of my systems. The Z270 system has ran flawlessly as a studio workstation since the day it was built. Keep in touch if the injections fix the problems, if not I will look through the config again and see what I can spot out.

I have to report that my Asrock Z270M Extreme4, with an Asrock TB3 AIC in PCIe4 as advised by Asrock, initially worked well with a TB2 external hard disk via an Apple TB3-TB2 adapter cable. But when I needed to restart, I constantly got a 'slashed circle' icon just after the white Apple logo. That normally means boot can't find a valid system drive. The problem occurs whether or not I have any device connected to the AIC, as long as it's enabled in BIOS.
I'm currently in conversation with Asrock tech support.

Still having the same randomly restarts: when I browse for pictures in Finder usually when I try to preview them, when I boot back from Windows it restarts within 5 seconds and then it works normal or today even when it got back from wake :(

Ok, good news! My Asrock TB3 AIC is working well, after CMOS reset and changing BIOS settings. The manuals don't provide much information about Thunderbolt BIOS settings, and I think the "TBT Host Router" setting was the clincher. It defaults to "Two ports" but after the CMOS reset, "One port" got it going. My LaCie d2 TB2 hard drive shows up in System Report as SATA, but I'm not sure what speed it is working at.
