Integrated and Discrete Graphics, Working Together

In post #1, at the "Installation" part, I think there is a typo: 5912000 should be 59120000.
After the 10.13.4 update, many people (including me) have experienced graphics flickering with Intel HD 630 / UHD 630. I read that some people could fix it by changing iMac18,x system definition to iMac17,1. (link, link, link)

What do you think about it @toleda? Is it still worth using iMac18 sys def with HD 630 / UHD 630?
I really don't want to change my sys def because it could brick iMessage, mess up iCloud and so on... :)
Thank you in advance.
May i add to this that in system info, there are two entries of Intel UHD 630. and does changing the system bios have any effect on the USBs or CPU PM?

What do you think about it
Sysdef does not cause or fix screen glitches.
Neither imac17 or imac18 use iGPU graphics
No native support for Desktop HD630 or UHD630
Sysdef does set CPU and iGPU power management
Concern becomes Skylake PM on Kaby Lake, HD630 PM on UHD 630

I see that Coffee Lake is the current recommendation in April's Buyers Guide. What is the current recommendation for the UHD 630 clover config & kexts if it's not native? I only see golden builds, comments and feedbacks about UHD 630 but not a well written up to date guide.

Sysdef does not cause or fix screen glitches.

It's interesting.. If sysdef changes does not cause or fix screen glitches, then why there is so much positive feedback about this?

Hi Toleda. I have the intel hd630 working, with hardware acceleration. And also a discrete Ati HD6670 attached to a 20" samsung display vga only so got an active dvi-vga adapter. But screen on the dvi-vga have 1 sec o image, 1 sec black screen then 1 sec gray image like that on a no signal 80s tv, back to the correct image 1 sec. The hdmi display works fine conected to the Intel or to the Ati.

Do you think it is a Vga non supported problem? Even if there is image but with that glitch or flickering. It was hard to find an active dvi-vga adapter, if itis a vga problem it should be the same with an hdmi-vga adapter?
Thanks

Kaby Lake graphics worked on SkyLake kexts, not perfectly. Many, not all, Kaby Lake issues resolved with native Kaby Lake graphics. Coffee Lake graphics work on Kaby Lake kexts, not native. Native Coffee Lake graphics will likely be available by Fall.
why there is so much positive feedback about this?
System Definition does not set framebuffer, Clover does and it is the same for any SysDef.
Desparate subjective opinions

Hi, I need to have 4 monitors running on my audio system (ga z270x ud5, 6700k, gtx1050ti).

It is no problem to run the gtx1050 with 3 monitors, but since the displaylink drivers for sierra don't work properly, I'm trying to use the IGPU HD530 for the 4. monitor to run.

I tried different solutions and the last one was in this thread.

I'm able to run the gtx 1050 alone and also the HD530 alone without any problem, but if try to run both together,

(IGPU enabled, first display, 1. monitor to IGPU HDMI port (boot display), 2. monitor to gtx 1050 DVI port)

the 2. monitor will stay black, although the gtx 1050 is recognised in the system profiler and seems to be installed correctly
(all data for gtx1050 look correct).
The system profiler also shows that there is no monitor connected, but I have an DVI monitor (Medion) attached to the DVI Port.
The DVI monitor is working perfectly if I only use the gtx1050.

I read in some threads about quicksync, that one could only use the IGPU headless, because otherwise the discrete gfx card won't work correctly (same problem I have), but I hope that you could help me to get the 4. monitor working.

Thanks for your work all the years, I've learned a lot over here.

Hi @toleda ,
I'm working and using this topic to make internal card working with GPU but now when I checking some application.
Example: Lightroom, we have only one option to choosing is an internal card and GPU not use any more although GPU can make extra monitor working. With real iMac, if system working with the internal card not enough it will be changed automatically to use GPU but in my system using your way, it doesn't happen the same way( check system info when it switching).

Otherways: When I user Lexmark for benchmark it used both graphics card and increase my point but when I trying to export a video by Final cut it using the only internal card to export and take 2mins(example), and when I try to use the external card to export it takes about 1mins. It doesn't auto switch when the system needs more force. Any idea or suggestion.

Thanks so much!

Post #1 method has not been verified with IntelGraphicsFixup.kext, WhateverGreen.kext or Shiki.kext. WhateverGreen.kext (1.2.0/Intel/AND/Nvidia) includes IntelGraphicsFixup.kext and Shiki.kext attributes, remove both.
Further, config.plist/ACPI/DSDT/Fixes/YES (all) has not been verified either. For most systems, set Fixes/NO (all) or remove completely.

Suggest removing the 3 kexts noted and Fixes/NO (all).
Attach all 4 monitors and restart.
See Post #1/Problem Reporting; attach all requested files
