Hi,

I have High Sierra build with an i7-4790K and a NVidia GTX 770, i´m planning to buy a Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580 8GB GDDR5, so i need to be advise:

- What SMBios to use? actually i use iMac 14,2
- To configure Radeon, use radeondeinit? Lilu + WhateverGreen?

Thanks in advance

For your i7-4790K, iMac15,1 is the correct match especially with an AMD GPU.
When 10.13.4 comes out soon, you will not require either RadeonDeInit or whatevergreen kext.

In the mean time, RadeonDeInit will get you going. Whatevergreen will give card a name in about my mac (cosmetic) and audio over HDMI. Use one or the other not both.

Thanks macnb for your reply.

So if i understand, for don´t mess around with everything, iMac15,1 SMBios, RadeonDeInit in config.plist, and Whatevergreen in kext/other clovers folder, thats right?

For iMac15,1, doesn´t have a black screen problem? Or am i confusing something?

Thanks again,
Huiguita

No. Use either RadeonDeinit OR whatevergreen kext.

Should have no black screen problems.

When 10.13.4 arrives, you won't need either...or so I've read. :D

Many thanks to all.

What are the benefits of using iMac15,1 vs iMac14,2, other than it being a correct match for the hardware (Haswell CPU + AMD GPU)?

I currently use iMac14,2 as I forgot to change it when I got the AMD card (originally I had a GTX 760) and have noticed no problems.

(From a public beta tester) You have been reading the right articles :)

Just remember to change the BIOS setting for the graphics card to pcie after doing the upgrade, you may still need a ssdt file for audio over the HDMI/DP connectors, but no need for connector data or other stuff like that in your Clover config file. Not even the cosmetic fixes.

Behind the scenes, there are many places where model number (and mac board-id that matches the model) are used to "tune" the system according the CPU/Platform. E.g. CPU power management and P-States. Also effects GPU power management too.

Thanks, I understand better now. I'll consider generating new SMBIOS details.
