ZBook 15 G3 success (i7-6700hq)

Hi,

I have a Zbook G4 Kabylake. Thanks to Rehabman and the posts on this thread, I have been able to install High Sierra. However, I am having issues trying to get it to boot off the hard drive. I have 2 SSD. High Sierra is installed on my 256 GB SSD (samsung mzvlv256hchp-000h1). The second SSD is 512 GB ( samsung mzvlw512hmup-000h1 ). At installation time, Disk Utility would only allow me to install on the 256 GB SSD because it had a GUID Partition table. Disk Utility would not allow me to partition the 512 GB SSD so I was not able to install on it.

What complicates things more is that the 512 GB SSD is only detected in UEFI Boot Mode. The 256 GB SSD is only detected in Legacy Boot mode. I've tried doing the Clover install to both SSD but the mobo doesn't seem to boot off them automatically. I can manually tell the Bios to boot off file and then maneuver to the Clover EFI file on the 512 GB SSD and things will boot up. But it is not automatically loading or detecting Clover installation on either drives.

Thank you everyone so far for all the help. Has anyone ever seen this before. I must be doing something dumb.

It sounds like you enabled "fast boot". As per guide, fast boot should be disabled. CSM/legacy should be enabled, but all booting is done UEFI.

It was disabled. I updated the bios to latest and this seemed to have worked. This allowed UEFI to finally detect the 256 SSD with the High Sierra and I was able to finally install Clover and boot off the 256 SSD. I'm getting a circle with a line screen now. I will be backtracking my steps and look to solve through on my own before posting "Problem Reporting" files. Thanks again.

I finally got past this error. I had to remove, from ACPI/patched, the SSDT-FAN-ORIG.aml, SSDT-IGPU.aml, and the SSDT-Zbook-G3-Skylake.aml files for the system to finally boot. System boots up and seems to be fairly stable. I am working through the other links trying to get battery and other things working again.

Attached are the Problem Reporting files. All the commands run were redirected to a file. Would anyone be able to tell if you see any additional errors in my configuration? Thanks in advance.

See guide:

SSDTs you mention work together with "final config.plist". You cannot use one without the other.

I went through instructions again just followed Rehabman script. Everything seems to come up now. Thanks to Rehabman. Not really sure why it didn't work the first time. The only thing I changed was changing the video from discrete to the highest setting (UGMA? or something).

I'm having issues with my trackpad not working. I tried the latest Voodoo PS2 kext 1.8.28 from the other guide but it didn't seem to help. I'm also having trouble getting sound to work. Please help.

Attached are the problem reporting files. Thanks in advance for any help given.

You made a mistake in the way you installed VoodooPS2Controller.kext.
Note errors from kextcache:

Remove /System/Library/Extensions/VoodooPS2Controller.kext, as it is already (properly) installed in /Library/Extensions (download.sh and install_downloads.sh download and install the correct version).

Something weird is definitely happening. I was on the journey of replacing the VoodooPS2Controller because after download.sh and install_downloads.sh, the trackpad stopped working. So even though it was installed with the correct version, it did not work. I removed the VoodooPS2Controller out of /S/L/E, did another install_download.sh and now it won't boot. It is stuck at the apple screen with the progress bar at 100 %. With -v turned on, it just sitting here spitting out the following messages:

IOConsoleUsers: time(0) 0->0, lin 0, llk 1.
IOConsoleUsers: gIOScreenLockSate 3, hs 0, bs 0, now 0, sm 0x0

This is very similar to the issue I experienced when I kept the files (SSDT-FAN-ORIG.aml, SSDT-IGPU.aml, SSDT-Zbook-G3-Skylake.aml) the ACPI/patched directory.

Booting off the original USB I used to install the system now randomly causes system to reboot in the middle.

Any ideas on how I can get back in safe mode or something just to try and recover it. I am suspecting that if I delete the ACPI/patched files again it will boot up again.
