Final Cut Pro X FCPX Graphic Card performance

The demo at madebyevan.com runs very smooth...no issues that I can see.
I am running 10.13.3
As for 104, I can try that. Given the issues with Nvidia drivers and 10.13.3, I had to download 103, edit the package, install, and update NVDAStartupWeb.kext to work properly...instructions from https://www.******.com/r/hackintosh/comments/7sr4vv/nvidia_web_drivers_and_you_a_patching_guide_for/

Another thought I had deals with how FCPX uses both the iGPU and dGPU. Hardware encoding is supported according to MacX Video Converter Pro and it appears other apps are performing very well (Cinebench score of 124.16 fps for OpenGL, 1003 cb for CPU). However, I only see the Nvidia listed in System Report/Graphics...where I thought I should also be seeing the Intel HD630. Is there anyway to verify this reasoning?

I don't think I see my HD graphics in system report either but I'll have to check. MacX Video Converter will let you know if quicksync is working correctly and it sounds like it is. Use the nvidia-update script I posted above to install .104.. It does all the patching for you.

I installed.104 and noticed a slight improvement (maybe 10 seconds) but still around the 2 min mark for completing.

I did see that if I changed the ig-platform-id from 0x59120003 to 0x59120000, I do see both the Intel HD and Nvidia listed in system report...but then FCPX crashes the whole computer. LOL

In any case, I'm at the point where I either downgrade to a fresh install of 10.12 (currently on 10.13.3) or return the Nvidia and get an AMD.

So frustrating...

Thanks again and let me know if you have any other ideas.

i have installed high sierra and final cut x have problem with my gtx 960 4gb. If i do the brucex test it end in 10 minutes with background render off. Very slow...... i don't know what is the problem. I have a i7 7700k, motherboard gigabyte z270x ultra gaming. I have the last web driver installed and all works good but final cut is very slow in rendering. This is my config.plist....
Please someone can help me? thanks
Hi, the nvidia graphics card is not involved in video encoding fcpx, only AMD and built-in Intel, I have an intel HD 2500, only for video encoding.

Try setting ig-platform-id to 59120003.

anyone here running without igpu and amd 580/vega?

i have problems with exports/rendering h.264, random freeze with 580

if you have no problems, what exact hw do you have? planing on buying vega if that would solve my problems...

Hello Everyone!

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card to an AMD card to improve performance with Final Cut Pro X. I'm running a 6+ year old hackintosh w/Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 motherboard. I've installed a new Sapphire Radeon PULSE RX 580 8GB last week but the computer wouldn't post or boot. The power button was dead. I don't think it's my PSU as I have one of the better ones. I'm looking for an older newish card that will work with my old motherboard.

As mentioned my hackintosh is 6 years old and still going strong. I'm a photographer and can edit 3000+ images with no issues in Lightroom and Photoshop.

The problem occurs in Final Cut Pro X. On export/rendering there are occasional lines/gliches in the frame. But also would like to improve export/rendering as it takes 176 seconds on the Bruce test. Right now I have an EVGA GeForce GTX 560 2048 MB running with the Z68XP-UD3 motherboard.

Any recomendtions with an newish AMD card that will work with my old rig would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks
John
