An iDiot's Guide To iMessage

hello P1LGRIM
instead of "com.apple.ids.service", I have "com.apple.ids.subservices"
should I delete this file?
thank you
Your choice - It will be recreated next boot.

This works like a charm on my MSI 370A-PRO i8700k system! iMac 18,3! Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback.
It's good to know that it still works, I haven't done a new build in ages.

P1LGRIM, Could you help me to check my config.plist? I always get ROM: ffffffffffff with this config.

You must have a working Ethernet connection which is defined as BuiltIn and en0.
An easy way to determine this is with the DPCIManager app.
It is possible to connect with a Wireless adaptor but you must have working Ethernet which is BuiltIn and en0 too.
This is the most basic fundamental and the one that is overlooked most by laptop users although it is equally valid for desktop users too.

It is important that your system should have support for NVRAM. If your system does not have native support for NVRAM then you should emulate it by the installation of EmuVariableUefi-64 and RC Scripts with the Clover installer.

As a point of reference, I followed this guide to get iMessage up and running on my Skylake hack that runs High Sierra today. Working with a system id of iMac14,2.

It seems that if you follow each of the steps carefully that the process will be successful. Note that for the ROM and MLB parameters I used the following:

ROM - MAC address for one of my ethernet adapters
MLB - OSX serial number with 5 random Hex digits added to the end.

Great guide - thanks to everyone that contributed to documenting the process.

sourceforge reports DPCIManager as infected with malware
It is a false positive.

my machine is an old bios based machine so i have to run legacy clover and there is no NVRAM option for it.
If your motherboard lacks native NVRAM support then you cannot emulate it if you use legacy mode.

Use supported hardware or accept compromises.

hello and thank you for this helper
i must say it did not work for me although it seems to pass most of the steps
I did not have the magic wand button on clover configurator,
I would suggest to keep a copy of a working config p.list before starting this (I failed rebooting after attempt.

high sierra 13.10.3
gigabyte Z370

The guide is now getting on for two years old and Clover Configurator has changed a little in that time.
The Magic Wand has been replaced by a simple up/down selector :

A good strategy although each time that you install or update Clover a copy of your /EFI folder is saved to /EFI-Backups on your system partition.

High Sierra is 10.13.* and your system specs should be in your profile as per the rules :

Profiles need to contain at least your primary system to assist others with helping you

Your post prompted me to update the guide a little - Thanks

Does this guide need iMessage activated first?
