Hey, so I tried to use UniBeast 8.1 and I got this error: There was an error creating your UniBeast drive: Copy of apfs.efi failed. I have looked all over the forum (and Internet) and I have found many resources that did not work. I looked on this thread:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/copy-of-apfs-efi-failed.237995/

and found this:
19. If you get the error "Couldn't copy apfs.efi to destination ESP folder" on a UEFI Boot Mode creation, erase the destination USB stick with the following command and rerun UniBeast:

sudo diskutil partitionDisk USB-Device GPT JHFS+VOLUME-NAME R

Replace USB-Device with the device name of your destination volume, i.e. /dev/disk2
Replace VOLUME-NAME with the volume name you want.

Be aware UniBeast will change the volume name to "Install macOS High Sierra" which is the default that Apple uses for USB installation media.

I tried and got this message: /Volumes/USB does not appear to be a whole disk.

So what should I do?

Please Help!

you should use /dev/disk2 instead of /Volumes/USB

I just want to share my weird experience. It might help others: With High Sierra 10.13.3 you are bound to erase your USB-stick with "Mac OS Extented (Journaled)" but you don´t have the choice of "GUID Partition Map" as shown in the guide. I did the erase as good as options avaiable.
Then I tried to install Unibeast 8.2.0 at the newly formatted USB-Stick. After some minutes I got the error: "There was an error creating your UniBeast drive: Copy of apfs.efi failed".
So I did what this thread told me to do in this case. And I did a new install with the same Unibeast 8.2.0 and the same Mac OS installer file I downloaded before. After very few minutes I got the error: "There was an error creating your UniBeast drive: Couldn't create installer"
So I was helpless. To find any help I tried to repeat the whole procedure to have an install log file I could post here. But unexpectantly the install routine was successful this turn. I did not changed a bit!
Thanks to wyattaj2025 and sprliu365 fo their postings. It is hard to run in such an early problem in setting up a hackintosh after weeks of hand-picking hardware and some hours of assembling. Good work!

Hello, i am currently experiencing simular bit slightly different problems. Every time i try to run the command: sudo diskutil partitionDisk /dev/disk2 GPT JHFS+ USB R i get the error massage
Error creating partition map: Placing a partition map on a Core Storage logical volume is not supported (-69671)
someone experienced that before and has a solution to this? I am trying to create it on a iMac late 2013 and yes i am using an admin account.
Thanks ahead

You must select GUID partition but it's only available if you select in the view options at the top left corner of the Disk Utility window, "Show Only Volumes". So simply select view - show all devices, then select the actual drive you're trying to reformat, then when trying to erase, you should have the option to choose a partition scheme.

It's not a bug it's how macOS operates, if the Finder has the folder open UniBeast can't write to it.

I found I made a mistake in understanding what you said.
But I have a question, after the unibeast noticed it can't copy the apfs.efi, I found that the EFI and HS are in the same part.
Like attached photo, it is different with I use clover. clover always create a new part for EFI.
Does it matter or it always do so?
