iGpu is disabled in Bios. Should I modify config.plist or something else ? Thanks

Edit : I reached to make them work together with HighSierra. See post :

What about FCPX perfs ?

@framzy Can you say a little about overall FCPX performance - beyond BruceX render time? Smoothness of playback, rendering of effects, etc.?

I have an older machine that I will upgrade this year. At times I'm stunned by how smooth my MacBook Pro is working the same project via TB external SSD.

Guys, there is some issue with the latest 3 driver versions from Nvidia that is causing FCPX to render incredibly slow.

Roll back to 378.10.10.1025.104 to resolve this issue.

Easiest way to do this is to use the nvidia-update script in Terminal:

Code:
bash <(curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Benjamin-Dobell/nvidia-update/master/nvidia-update.sh) 378.10.10.10.25.104

Restart and rendering will be fast again.

For example, on latest Nvidia driver, my 980ti was rendering BruceX at just over 1 minute 33 seconds.

After rolling back to driver version .104, I'm back to 31 seconds.

EDIT:: After you rollback the drivers and restart, upon logging into the MacOS desktop you'll have a popup window saying that there are newer Nvidia drivers available. Make sure you check the box that says "don't notify me about this update" and hit CANCEL.. otherwise it will install the latest driver and your work will be null and void.

Take a look at the utilities posted in Clover kext patch for Nvidia Web Drivers https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/clover-kext-patch-for-nvidia-web-drivers.246303/ You can use remove-NVIDIA-helper.command to remove the preference pane and status app.

don't work for me....nvidia driver after restart are always 387.10.10.10.25.156

it's impossible return to 378.10.10.1025.104 with high sierra 17d47

Interesting. I'm running the latest MacOS update and just rolled back to .104 yesterday. You aren't hitting the "update" button after restart are you?

i open terminal, then i write :bash <(curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Benjamin-Dobell/nvidia-update/master/nvidia-update.sh) 378.10.10.1025.104 and i press enter and nothing is happening

There is supposed to be a period after the third 10 so it should read 378.10.10.10.25.104

Try that and it should work.

Here is the original documentation:

https://github.com/Benjamin-Dobell/nvidia-update

Toward the bottom of the page there is an "Install specific driver version" section. Copy and paste the bash script, then replace <revision> with 378.10.10.10.25.104

There should not be a colon before the word "bash"

I'm using the 1050ti with i7 7700k processor. I'm getting almost 2 minutes to complete BruceX 5k. I am using Nvidia driver 378.10.10.1025.103.

do you have any ideas on how I can improve my performance? I would love to get the 31 seconds you are getting. Maybe you can post your config.plist and kext files for comparison.

Thanks,
Jordy

Try installing 104 and see what happens. Also try going to this site and seeing if things are smooth:

I know the Pascal cards (especially non-reference models) have driver issues.
Also, what version of MacOS are you running?

The demo at madebyevan.com runs very smooth...no issues that I can see.
I am running 10.13.3
As for 104, I can try that. Given the issues with Nvidia drivers and 10.13.3, I had to download 103, edit the package, install, and update NVDAStartupWeb.kext to work properly...instructions from https://www.******.com/r/hackintosh/comments/7sr4vv/nvidia_web_drivers_and_you_a_patching_guide_for/

Another thought I had deals with how FCPX uses both the iGPU and dGPU. Hardware encoding is supported according to MacX Video Converter Pro and it appears other apps are performing very well (Cinebench score of 124.16 fps for OpenGL, 1003 cb for CPU). However, I only see the Nvidia listed in System Report/Graphics...where I thought I should also be seeing the Intel HD630. Is there anyway to verify this reasoning?
