i had problems with my nvidia card and dual monitors, and having tired of messing around with the web driver after software updates, i decided to try a radeon card. the RX560 looked reasonable, so i went for that.

however, i'm now seeing the problem mentioned in this thread: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/rx560-freezes-randomly-with-blockfenceinterrupt.240145/

i don't have access to Sierra as i never downloaded it, so the downgrade fix is not available to me.

so that leaves me with the question: which Radeon cards are trouble-free on 10.13.3?

thanks for any suggestions!

Not to help with your issue, but you can still download MacOS Sierra from a link in this document :

thanks, that is helpful.

in the meantime i've gone to smbios imac 18,1 but it's hard to know if this fixes things. it takes about a day before i've done enough stuff to lock it up. supposedly 18,1 is a bad match for 8700k and z370 but for whatever reason things seem to be working fine.

has it improved?, i too want to switch to rx 560 from 1070

sorry i missed your question. yes the system is stable with imac 18,1, however, my 2nd display is crazy when i wake the display from locked display sleep. it's displaying some random set of windows in inverted, psychedelic colors. canceling and re-waking results in the right behavior (the blurred out desktop background.)

so this means that if someone woke the display while it was locked they could see some stuff that's running on my computer.

i don't know if this is because my monitors are really old (30" apple cinema) and/or i needed to use an active DP->HDMI dongle to attach the 2nd display.
