Everything worked for me except the audio. I followed your instructions including MacMan's patch prior to rebooting and still no audio. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, no... I'm no guru when it comes to getting Audio working. I simply followed MacMan's instructions as I've already mentioned, and it worked just fine. You might also want to check out what Stork did on his Z370 build. I think his steps to get audio working were *slightly* different than what I did.

No worries, your post helped me make this build possible. I was pulling out all hairs and drinking beer uncontrollably. Now I'm am 95% finished. I want to thank you for your post and after I finish this dual boot I will go back in and fix the audio. :headbang::headbang::headbang:

Hey BoomR, what BIOS version is your Ultra Gaming running? mine came with F6 but F7h is the most recent. I got all my gear in so start building, I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Check out post #13 where I talk about one of the devices that I use. I also have a CalDigit TB3 dock that I use for the native USB audio CODEC support (even though my mobo on-board audio is working fine, I prefer the audio from the CalDigit). The CalDigit is the only TB3 device I have at the present time, BTW. I also have a Pegasys2 R6 (12TB) that I use with this system, too. And yes, the speed test was the boot drive (Samsung 960PRO m.2).

Thanks. Do you have any reason to think that you would achieve less then full TB3 speeds (or the potential of TB2, for that matter) under macOS?

I'm still working with three-year-old onboard TB and throughput has always been a bit hampered.

Hey BoomR, nice build, thanks for sharing!

I'm looking for building a Hack to run an AVID HD Native PCIe card and I'd love to have a 6 core beast like yours. I've noticed that you have a HD Native card in another build. Do you think it'll work on a z370 + 8700k build like yours?

I'm afraid that the iMac18,3 system definition prevents the HD Native card to work... What do you think?

Thanks :)

RE: TB Audio Interface: I run ProTools | HD (with an HD Native PCIe card) in a different machine, and don't have a TB interface to test. I have a TB2 PCIe chassis & if time permits, I could maybe test that. But not sure how valid a test it would be, as I think your inquiry is more about a true TB interface (like the UA ones).

is the new build you just did capable of running 2 HD Native PCIe cards?

Hi pooks. I haven't build the hack yet.
I guess that HD Native over TB (either with a PCIe chassis or with Avid's TB box) should work OK.
I was wondering if the PCIe card installed directly on the motherboard would work fine with the z370 chipset and High Sierra.
I've ordered the parts so I'll check it out myself.

cool let us know if you manage to get the PCIe cards working, how do you know the imac 18.3 system definition prevents the cards to work? have you got a workaround?

I don't! I'm just afraid it doesn't work because iMac don't have PCIe slots. On my current build, I run with a MacPro 4,1 system def. I'll see how it goes with the new build. And let you know of course!
