Core i7 7740X is only a 4 core CPU, are you satisfied with that? If so, I recommend the 7700K instead as it is natively supported with MacOS Sierra and High Sierra.

If not, then you might want a CPU with more cores, such as the Core i7 8700K (6 core), which is natively supported with MacOS High Sierra. This CPU requires a Z370 motherboard.

Or, do you want a CPU with even more cores?

photoshop and LR only use 4 cores but indeed the 8700k (wait are unlocked chips allowed?) Is okay too but is the https://www.alternate.nl/html/produ...-YjfUcoAbiRkR9dTny8H6Jbc2NesLs74aAqS_EALw_wcB supported?
so okay now I'm thinking of
CPU i7 7800k (I know the cooler)
Motherboard ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-G
Ram memory Corsair vengeance lpx 16gb
GPU RX vega

Yes of course unlocked chips are allowed. The 7740X is an unlocked CPU, I myself am using the 7700K, and there are many people on this forum who opt for the 8700K. To overclock the CPU or not is your decision.

I repeat : the Core i7 8700K is natively supported with MacOS High Sierra. As long as you use High Sierra it should work.
