[Guide] Dell XPS 13 9360 on MacOS Sierra 10.12.x - LTS (Long-Term Support) Guide

Good news and some bad news:

- Brightness control working (!) , but the function keys are not
- Power Management: Won't get lower than 1.3GHz (Is it normal?)
- Audio not working (not a big deal as I usually mute it)
- WLAN USB Dongle working (finally some internet access), Ethernet to be tested
- [New] "Shutdown" option doesn't actually shutdown (power off), the laptop restarted instead

Things to do:
- Swap the Wi-Fi card
- Clone the whole external HDD to one of the partitions on NVMe (not sure if it works or not)

Maybe post #1 needs some update... Files in the archive do not work and I spent over a week to make it "use-able"
Btw thanks again RehabMan!

Original files works fine for me. @ensonchoy Do you have the same exact system as OP? (e.g. CPU, BIOS, etc.) Were you installing Sierra or HS?

Oops I am sorry. I have a different version of 9360:

BIOS 2.4.2 - I know #1 used an old version
i5-7200U - HD Graphics are different so adjustments are needed
Installing HS - Not Sierra

However there are no guides in HS Laptop Support, so I ask here... but I guess Audio and Function keys work the same as the config in #1 so I can use the same kext ...? (Btw now they fail)

Hello guys, I received yesterday my Dell XPS 13  I already swapped the wifi card and I'm ready to start the mod.

The question is about my SSD: SK Hynix PC401 NVMe 512GB

I'm the first one with this disk? Any impressions?

Yep, seems like pc300 successor. Please test it for 4k format possibility so I can update my list of known disks

Yes it works after 4k format, anyway I'm on 45% of battery and cononutBattery show me only 1 hour and 26 minutes left.

I don't know if is something related to disk.

I do not see my Sierra installation hard drive why can someone help.... followed all instructions.....

It is normal that with 6% of battery the utilization graph goes crazy and that it is consuming 13.3W at 3% of cpu? :banghead:

I'd bet its QHD+ related

I only know that the FAQ links to the correct I2C support thread. Follow link from FAQ. Then read carefully.

Note: I cannot comment on whether the new I2C kext is compatible with your computer or not. That is for you to research and or implement the required code/extensions.

Thanks, but the author is not willing to help with making it working, and I'm not a dsdt guru to be able to manage this...
By the way it should work, I even calculated the right pin layout which is 0x1B for 9360, so there is the chance we get rid of touchpad lags one day. But by someone else, mastering the manual dsdt edition, which is not my case.

You should not use FakeID at all.
If you have not set DVMT-prealloc correctly, you will get panic.
Make sure you read the guides carefully.
You mean that we don't have to use FakeID for "IntelGFX=0x59168086" in config.plist with HD620 KabyLake anymore?
