Using M2 instead of SATA SSD

Are there limitations I need to know about using an M2 drive instead of a SATA SSD for a new build?
The last time I built a new hackintosh was years ago. Are M2 drives bootable? Are they recommended for OS, data, or both?

There are two types of M.2 SSDs - ACHI (SATA) and NVMe. Both are recognized by High Sierra. The NVMe M.2 SSDs are faster. You can use them both for Boot and data drives.

Hello Stork. Is the "[Guide] HackrNVMeFamily co-existence with IONVMeFamily using class-code spoof" still required to use M.2 NVMe SSDs, or is it simpler now?

Also, is there any reason why the "HP EX920 M.2 1TB PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe 3D TLC NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) 2YY47AA#ABC" would NOT work?

Starting with High Sierra, you don't need to use RehabMan's M.2 spoof procedures. M.2 NVMe SSDs are recognized High Sierra just as regular SSDs.

Not that I can see. It should work.
