Just an FYI but if you follow this guide and install intelbacklight kext without applying the patch for it in dsdt, you will not get graphics acceleration till you delete intelbacklight kext or patch it.

In other news, did anyone find a better trackpad kext than the voodoo one from 1st page? I'm thinking our trackpads aren't auctally alps but are elan v4's. Sadly the universal elan smart touchpad kext doesn't work. Would be nice to get drag and drop working.
Sorry for all the replies but try this. https://www.technibble.com/pcidatabase-repair-tool-of-the-week/

Did you find our trackpad maker?

No sorry, doesn't look like its there(shows an an nvidia product), but I'm guessing its an alps on PS2 that's also capable with elantech, or the otherway around. In addition iv also taking apart the laptop and looked at the touch pad PCB, though no info on its maker.

Though windows just says its a generic PS2 mouse in a PS2 port that is precision touch pad capable.

Iv been looking into just replacing it with a synaptics pad, but i would have to put it though a usb part because the touchpad has a weird pin amount.

Dang, gonna have to use Linux. We could probably make it work with a modification to the voodooI2C kext. I was thinking replace with an apple trackpad! Haha, in my dreams. In the meantime, remote mouse for iPhone and iPad promises multitouch functions if you don’t mind usuing your phone. Haven’t tried it yet, on vacation.

Yeah, Elan on PS2 99%. There's no I2C on the touchpad. It also appears as PS2M and PS2K on MacOS.

EDIT: confirmed 100% Elan, cant find a datasheet though: https://imgur.com/a/fRpf7

EDIT2: looks like eKT8100A, but that doesn't support ps2 :/
The eKT8100A is the touchscreen controller I believe. I've taken apart my laptop and searched the trackpad model and all the eBay listings and other listings state dell as the manufacture of the touchpad. Could this be true?

Also currently on el capitan following this guide. Is the change to Sierra big/alot of changes or pretty simple upgrade?

Sierra is good. I would stay on El captain though, you might have to change some stuff. The Touch pad is probably manufactured by dell with elan's controller chips. I agree with the eKT8100A.
