Alright, I am autobooting now. For some reason, the EFI partition config.plist had the name of an older boot volume. I edited it in TextEdit and now all is good. Still need to resolve the display not shutting off when Display Sleep is engaged, and I have not tested computer sleep to see if I have that problem as well. I'm very happy to have this computer running High Sierra!

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread.

Well, the High Sierra 10.13.2 update has really screwed up my installation. I did the update from the App Store but it wouldn't boot. Moreover, there are now duplicates of my hard drive and my Recovery partition in the Clover menu after power-up. The hard drive entry on the left is the countdown volume and it hangs at boot. If I manually select the hard drive entry on its right, it boots fine but only to 10.13.1. No idea what that's about. I am now attempting to use the Combo Update to see if that fixes the problem.

Any idea why my hard drive and Recovery partitions are duplicated in Clover? I have never seen that before.

I also do not know why the installation partiton is created in high sierra v10.13.1, not yet tried to v10.13.2.
If someone know well, please answer.

Please refer to the following.

- Reboot and select proper boot device or insert

- Remove extra Clover BIOS boot entries & prevent further problems

The monitor power is not turned off, it just does not display.

Since High Sierra the installation mechanism of the updates are a bit different. You install the update and during reboot you need to choose the install update partition. For this partition to boot you need FakeSMC.kext in EFI folder of your SSD otherwise it wont boot. I havn't done 10.13.2, but it should be similar.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I'll post the results I've installed.

I am experiencing a trial and error about Ver. 10.13.2

Up to macOS High Sierra 10.13.1 is O.K. , but The update to 10.13.2 doesn't work properly and not even boot.
So I erase this post.

Removing the extra boot entries from Clover Bootloader.

To remove boot entries
edit config.plist with clover configurator.

At GUI
uncheck Legacy
add the keyword of entries to Hide Volume
Preboot
Recovery

(* do not insert "install" keyword" to delete install boot icon, you could not update S/W.)

Refer to the following image,

Putting FakeSMC.kext into the "Other" folder on EFI didn't work. Moreover, now my USB thumb drive won't boot. The install seems to be completely damaged so I am downloading the full 10.13.2 installer and will try to make a fresh install onto the hard drive. If I get it working, I thing 10.13.2 will be my last update. This is too much effort to maintain the updates. Thanks, though, for the suggestions. Something is clearly wonky with my particular setup.

Simply put it into other folder won't boot in High Sierra.
Replace the entire EFI folder as shown in Step 6 with the new Unibeast USB, not merging. Try clean installation like the above.

For the update you need only download the combo update or the appstore update and reboot - then for the reboot you need FakeSMC into you EFI folder of your SSD/HDD. You do not need the USB drive for the update process. I havn't done the update for this build until now, but i think it will be similar.
