Hello,

I have a fresh Installation of High Sierra 10.13.1 on my ASRock Fatal1ty Z370 itx with Coffee Lake Core i7 8700K.
Sound, LAN, iMessage, FaceTime, AppStore, USB Ports, NVMe SSD are working fine.

What I can't get working is my Thunderbolt Port. I have TB3>TB2 adapter and a Western Digital MyBook Duo external hard drive.
I tried with plug in before computer start and after clover bootloader has started, but nothing happened. The hard drive is not found in Mac OS. When plugging in, the hard drive starts and in Mac in goes back in standby.

Security in BIOS is set to no security and its activated. Also I installed the newest driver in a Windows 10 preinstallation.

Who can help ?

I'm thinking about getting this motherboard also because as of now this is the only z370 with thunderbolt 3 support if i am correct. Did you manage to get thunderbolt working already?

No, I couldn‘t manage it. Almost every time when I plugged in the MyBookDuo, which has it own power supply, the board had a short circuit and I had to restart. I tried this with a USB stick type c, but nothing happened.

I don‘t know if the board has an error or if it belongs to the external power supply of the external hard drive.

I‘m now changing my board into a Gigabyte Z370N WIFI.

Galileo, did you make progress on this? Need also a working Mini-ITX mainboard with Thunderbolt for my Apple display. I'm curious about your project. Many Thanks, Thorsten

I think we need to instal the thunderbolt's driver on windows 10 after going on os.x.
Do u try that?
I have buy the same motherboard. I come back letter if I have more informations :)
(sorry for my English im French and bad boy for learn languages^^)

Hi Diatoun,

yes, I first installed Windows 10, downloaded all software packages from ASRock site and installed them. Also the Thunderbolt 3 driver.
It didn't work for me.
I still have my ASRock board, but I'm thinking about changing it this week. If you find a solution, it would be great

Hmmm have you try this?

"To get them running, I had to unplug my drives and go back into the BIOS and change some of the Thunderbolt settings. I had to set the Thunderbolt to accept Legacy, enabled the Thunderbolt boot support and also enabled the Ignore Thunderbolt Option ROM; saved settings, rebooted into Sierra and the ports worked."

I could only tell you if I arrived in mid December (i havent rceived all the components yet)

I haven't tested TB3 device yet, but usb3.1 gen2 SSD(sandisk Extreme900) works as well as when it plugged to TB3 port on MBP 2017.But doesn't work on hot plugging.
