Hello trs96. Can the HP 6200 and 8200 models play iTunes DRM protected content out of the box?
The hp 6300 and 8300 models won't correct? I want to get the right model that will play and stream Itunes DRM video I purchased from the Itunes store. I have an HP 8000 core 2 quad that plays Itunes DRM content. Thank you.

I haven't tested that but others have stated Sandy Bridge systems like this will play that content without issue.

I'm trying to install El Capitan on a 6200 Pro w/Asus EN210 GPU and Clover is painfully slow to load from USB, like 10-15 minutes. Also, once it finally loads and I select the USB drive to start the install, I never get to the the El Cap install screen. I want to try to add the nv_disable=1 boot flag to see if that will help but once I navigate to Boot Args and hit enter, everything freezes up. I followed all of the steps to a T listed here but this is as far as I get-any ideas?

EDIT: I was finally able to get the boot flag to work to get through the fist part of the install. Trying to boot to the HDD now to finish the install and had the same issue setting the flag. I gave up on trying to set it again and am now staring at a black screen.

I picked this noob setup since it was supposed to be "easy" and cheap but I've wasted my entire weekend. I want to throw the pc off of my balcony and go waste $2K+ on a MacBook Pro. Any ideas?

This guide says nothing about installing El Capitan. It's written for Sierra. Download Sierra, create a Unibeast installer and give that a try. If you need El Cap for some reason then do the following. (This is also recommended for the Sierra install)

Here's what you can do to make the initial install easier. This is only for the GT210 not the GT710 card.

0. Insert your USB (Unibeast) installer into a rear USB 2.0 port just below the Ethernet jack.

1. Highlight the USB installer icon at the Clover menu. Hit the spacebar then (uncheck) nv_disable=1
Return to the main Clover menu screen.



2. Next press the right arrow key until you get to Options, then hit enter.



3. Go to the graphics injection line and then press enter /return.
Checkmark the box for Inject Nvidia. Go back to the main Clover menu and boot from the USB.



Doing these steps will give you full graphics acceleration from your GT210 and make install and setup of macOS much easier. The initial boot will still be slow so be very patient.

I posted this here because there's also a guide in the thread about installing Snow Leopard for people that don't have access to a Mac-I was successful in getting that done and probably should have mentioned that in my first post. Because of this, I can't yet get Sierra or High Sierra-I'm installing El Capitan in order to download one of the newer OSes.

Should I have posted this in the El Capitan desktop support thread instead?

It's fine to post that here. El Capitan is just a temporary install so other than getting your Intel ethernet kext for an internet connection to the MAS, you won't have to do much else.
Important: Use Unibeast 6.2.0 to make the El Capitan installer

Many beginners make the mistake of downloading the newest version. It must be the 6.2.0 version.

Get the Intel Ethernet kext

and the FakeSMC kext from downloads
https://www.tonymacx86.com/resources/fakesmc.325/
and put them into your EFI/Clover/Kexts/Other folder on the EL Capitan USB installer drive.
You may need to use EFI mounter v3 to mount the EFI partition of the USB drive. Get that from downloads.

Once you've got El Cap booting from USB no need to install Clover or audio kexts etc. Download Sierra and make that Unibeast installer. Then clean install Sierra for legacy booting.

Nice work. I've not put that choice in the guide because it will derail a boot from USB with the GT710 or other Nvidia cards except a 210 or a few other old cards. Most go with that option (710) over the GT210. Maybe I'll just add a note for 210 users to make their initial install easier. Thanks for pointing that out.

Here's an interesting video about upgrading the 8200 Elite or 6200 Pro. Doing this of course makes it much more expensive than the ULB version I've outlined above. Have a look if you are at all interested in using one of these for gaming.

EDIT: Getting sound working w/the kext on the first page was the easiest part of this process.

my 6300MT was getting to big for my space so i got myself this 8200 SFF (cheap 8300 SFF are hard to come by in my area). will be trying this out.
