High Sierra - Error Loading Kernel Cache (0xe)

1. ERROR LOADING KERNEL CACHE PROBLEM
I have extracted the latest apfs.efi from the installation DMG and the error still persists. Error loading kernel cache. Need to “touch” the extensions folder from recovery to be able to boot again, but then, I’m at square 1 again :/

2. HS INSTALLATION FROM USB PROBLEM
I tried to create a USB installation disk, success, however, after I boot from the USB and try to initiate the installation, the process just crashes the installer and reboots (still booted from the USB). The screenshot is from the installation log just before the crash+reboot.

This volume is not formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

So how is it formatted ?

That’s the strange thing, the target disk IS formatted as MacOS Extended (Journaled)

EDIT: Please find attached output from terminal on the disk structure.

The target volume is a FusionDrive (disk4) with CoreStorage, comprising of 2 disks:

1. SSD (disk0), the other one
2. HDD (disk2).

Maybe that is the problem? However, I get this error even when I'm trying to install HS on the external drive (disk1), that reports MacOS Extended Journaled filesystem, however, in terminal using the diskutil info command, i get "File System: None" reported...

Well, I wasn’t expecting to use APFS, but I hoped that there would be no problem installing HS on a FusionDrive with HFS+

Anyway, I cloned my FusionDrive to an external drive but it is not recognised when I boot from the installer USB (therefore, I cannot install HS on the external drive). And the method of starting the update from the booted Sierra drive (external) is not working because of the 1st mentioned problem (kernel cache...).

Don’t know what to do. I either find a way to mount the external drive within the installation USB, or I solve the kernel cache problem.

In my case the error were caused by minor OS update and was fixed with updated version of apfs.efi from https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/how-to-update-current-and-past-apfs-efi-downloads.236103/
