macOS High Sierra 10.13 Supplemental Update

Ok this is for everybody else with similar motherboards.
as of now, the whole configuration works with just 3 extensions.
  1. install latest Lilu.kext into /Library/Extensions using KextBeast.
  2. install latest NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext into /Library/Extensions using KextBeast.
    • These two kexts fix the black screen at boot for iMac17,1 SMBIOS. (not the boot loop issue)
  3. Put EmuVariableUefi.efi into /EFI/CLOVER/Drivers64UEFI
    • This is the extensions that actually fixes the boot loop issue, the main issue is caused not because of some NVRAM support but because the WebDriver is apparently not being properly selected at boot, it defaults to OS X Default Graphics Driver instead of Nvidia Web Driver.
I assume since the driver is installed correctly, HDMI audio via the graphics card should work with out any kexts or patches.
and for me it defiantly does. (Oddly enough I don't remember having this in 10.12.6)

In terms of tags, this is what I have:
  • nvda_drv=1 is disabled
  • NvidiaWeb = False
  • Inject Kexts = Detect (not sure if thats even important, you can leave it as yes)
Honestly I'm not sure if thats what made everything work, at least for me it did.

Dude, I owe you a beer...it worked
I’ve been at this for days and you seemed to have found the right combo for my motherboard...thanks for posting your info

@Scott1204 Glad i could help man. This was just as hard on me.
But now we face a new threat, New drivers are out.

Haha!
Well some good news from my end, I went for the gusto and updated the update and so far there’s no smoke or sparks. Seems to be working.

Next challenge is 60hz 4K (30hz at the moment) on my Samsung TV. Getting closer...or going crazy, not sure which...

Whats the issue with your Samsung TV by the way?
Mine seems to be working fine at 60hz

Oddly enough i also have Samsung.

When I get to 4K resolution, the refresh rate drops to 30hz...so fast moving motion on screen looks a little stuttery. Unlike Windows, MacOS doesn’t play nice with many 4K TV’s.

The trick is to try and force 60hz. I was able to do it in Sierra with a DisplayPort adapter and SwitchResX. Was hoping that was not needed in High Sierra but so far think it’s the same.

Update us if you succeed, i was also interested in 32 inch screen at 4k.
But after you telling me that 60hz doesn't work im kinda hesitant.

So far I can confirm it works with the Club3d DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter and the technique used in Sierra. But your HiDpi choices are limited. Still tinkering though and will let you know what I find

Hey what backup software are you using?

I’m using Acronis which is the worst! Used to be good now totally sucks.

I'm updating to the new webdrivers as I type but as of the 117 version, I've had no problem running 4k @ 60hz on my 27" Acer UHD monitor through DP (except for the known bug where video starts to get laggy with the fix of turning the monitor off and then on again.

Thanks, yeah I think TV’s present a complication somehow. If it’s a computer monitor, those seem to work better.
