Yes the usb thing is great. I was already confused with my usb layout lol.
Instead of a Radeon Pro WX 7100, I got a WX 5100 as secondary card for the time being until Vega drivers are matured. Maybe even buy a 1080Ti to see if the Nvidia driver already works with 5k.

I got another weird problem with my R6E. I thought first it was the Vega, but it isn't. It has to do with the power state of the processor. The UI is kinda sluggish when using mission control, launchpad etc. Now comes the weird part that I found out;

1. Start the hackintosh = UI is sluggish and laggy
2. Sleep the hackintosh and wake the hackintosh = UI is totally fine and snappy

- Use HWPEnable and UseARTFrequency and force aggressive power mangement = Somewhat better, still sluggish UI

- Enable xcmp bootstrap patch (force full power, no power management on cpu = 4.3GHz all times) = UI is totally fine

- Disable Intel speedshift (disable native hardware power management) = UI is fine, but horrible CPU performance due to no correct power management.

I know this is not normal, because if I connect my MBP 2016 to all my monitors it just works fine and snappy. It's not the GPU or anything.

Anybody knows if this is just the motherboard and I have to wait for bios patches lol? :crazy:

remove ncpi 0x2000 from arguments, use voodootscsync (don't forget to edit to 19 in the plist for 7900x)
i have the same combo, r6e+7900x + (Strix 1080ti oc on shipment / had before an gigabyte 1080ti xTreme but the card boosts default to 2050-2100 Mhz and Crashed... default with the new bios F3P bios same on F3... without oc... thats why it going to be replaced with a strix 1080ti)
The 1080ti should support 5k without any problem... (I didn't tested... I have an 38uc99 with dp... 5k have 2x dp/hdmi but should work)

However, from where do you know that
(native hardware power management) is speed shift (hwp) ??

Im digging on cpuid for our skylake-x cpus, thats why I ask....

If I disable it in uefi/bios settings performance is really crap and it's not boosting correctly. If I run cinebench it's fluctuating all over the place if disabled and not reaching the upper p-state. I think that's the hardware p-state controlled feature. If I enable it again and run cinebench again it's turbo-ing just fine to it's max oc for me (4.3ghz). (That's also according to the note in the bios) Correct me if I am wrong. Just a guess, not really experienced in such stuff. Learning though!!

Things already in config but to no effect:

I already removed npci=0x2000
voodootscsync with 19 (sync 20 threads)

Maybe it's a combination of my Vega + WX 5100 card.

About the 5k stuff..

I am on a ultrafine 5k with a dual DisplayPort in thunderbolt card from gigabyte (alpine ridge). Someone tried with a gtx 1080 and reported that it booted to a black screen.

I want to try for myself anyway so I am ordering a 1080ti strix tonight to test.
 
Lilu.kext-1.2.0, NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext-1.2.0, Whatevergreen.kext-1.1.0, AppleALC.kext-1.2.0 and AirportBrcmFixup-1.1.0 released!!!!

Note that there is not yet a new EFI-Folder Release. For now please implement the new kext-versions manually.
All users, who have not been successful yet in running the Nvidia Web Driver by means of the AGDPFix.app, can try their luck now with Lilu.kext v1.2.0 and NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext v1.2.0 in EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other... Section "Graphics Configuration" has been modified respectively!

Where do you have that option for SpeedShift on your board? I can't find it on my R6E board....

Can you link your card? I have never seen a tb card that have 2xDP inputs... (and I doubt that the 1080ti will support this)

gigbyte alpine ridge (Is working fine on 5k with AMD cards btw. No issues with Polaris and camera / mic / usb hub is detected just fine)

@Rulebreaker01 I could not figure out how to read the bios for you and send it to you as a file. If you help me with "how-to" on Asus Prime x299, I will be happy to help! Also I am using a modified ssd.aml for 7900x, which you might want to copy and place into EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched ... good luck!

There is a place to be (needs only to be usable in Windows), but I can't boot on the AMD Vega Frontier Edition with even one of them plugged in (0x0 boot does not work to install Nvidia web drivers) as a 2nd GFX being passive (feeding no monitor).

They would blend in so nicely:

About the Thunderbolt Card...
I think the card doesn't combine two DP to one Type-c
im not sure, but I seems like the card do 1DP to 1Type-C and the other DP to the second Type-C...
As far I know, the 5k displays need 2x DP, instead of one... Because the Manufacturers still use DP 1.2 instead of 1.4...
And that 2xDP to one Type-C is sth Apple Proprietary... (but I can be wrong)

The other thing is, are you sure, that your Gigabyte TB3 cards work as TB3 with Mac?
Because as far I know, every TB3 card runs in TB2 mode on Mac...
But I can be wrong here too... Thats what ive read in the forums (don't ask me where exactly)

About the Thunderbolt Card...
I think the card doesn't combine two DP to one Type-c
im not sure, but I seems like the card do 1DP to 1Type-C and the other DP to the second Type-C...
As far I know, the 5k displays need 2x DP, instead of one... Because the Manufacturers still use DP 1.2 instead of 1.4...
And that 2xDP to one Type-C is sth Apple Proprietary... (but I can be wrong)

The other thing is, are you sure, that your Gigabyte TB3 cards work as TB3 with Mac?
Because as far I know, every TB3 card runs in TB2 mode on Mac...
But I can be wrong here too... Thats what ive read in the forums (don't ask me where exactly)

It was not a question of compiling pr permissions... in fact the AppleIntelInfo.kext seems not yet compatible with the i9-7980XE.. Pike confirmed this suspision few days ago... did you change something in the source code to make it work?

About the Thunderbolt Card...
I think the card doesn't combine two DP to one Type-c
im not sure, but I seems like the card do 1DP to 1Type-C and the other DP to the second Type-C...
As far I know, the 5k displays need 2x DP, instead of one... Because the Manufacturers still use DP 1.2 instead of 1.4...
And that 2xDP to one Type-C is sth Apple Proprietary... (but I can be wrong)

The other thing is, are you sure, that your Gigabyte TB3 cards work as TB3 with Mac?
Because as far I know, every TB3 card runs in TB2 mode on Mac...
But I can be wrong here too... Thats what ive read in the forums (don't ask me where exactly)

Yes it can combine 2x displayport! I already have 5k running on ultrafine on my hack for a few months and several users also have it running fine. It works on both my Vega frontier Edition or Radeon Pro WX 5100 card. (cut down Polaris 10).

If you connect both TB3 (Type-C) it will split to 2x 4k. If you connect 1 TB3 (Type-C) to the Ultrafine 5k it combines both display ports.

Not sure if it runs on TB2 or TB3 speed! I only need the functionality of 5k display + camera/mic/hub on Ultrafine 5k and that doesn't need a lot of bandwidth. I don't have a fast enough TB3 device to test speed.

@RuleBreaker01I could not figure out how to read the bios for you and send it to you as a file. If you help me with "how-to" on Asus Prime x299, I will be happy to help! Also I am using a modified ssd.aml for 7900x, which you might want to copy and place into EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched ... good luck!

There is a place to be (needs only to be usable in Windows), but I can't boot on the AMD Vega Frontier Edition with even one of them plugged in (0x0 boot does not work to install Nvidia web drivers) as a 2nd GFX being passive (feeding no monitor).

On the BIOS, go to Tool,
Go to Load/Save Profile from/to USB Drive and save it to your USB flash drive
If you success, it will be the CMO extension file, ZIP it and you could upload it here,
The BIOS version I have now is 0802, if you have the other version, pls let me know what it is,
I will check your sstd.aml as well, thanks.
