[Guide] HP ProBook/EliteBook/Zbook using Clover UEFI hotpatch

Ok ive corrected the ports now they are properly listed in IOreg, but none of them works(no displays are detected at VGA and DP connectors on laptop and dock): neither are detected in IOreg, when display plugged in nothing happens.

VGA is not supported, so I have no plans to help you with that one.
For laptop DP port, attach ioreg and corresponding config.plist that shows it working.

EFI was never requested. "Problem Reporting" request asks for only EFI/Clover, not entire EFI folder.

You forgot to press enter after 'system_profiler SPSerialATADataType|grep TRIM'. but...
Your ioreg shows you installed on APFS. And you have TRIM enabled.
Current config.plist files checked into github have TRIM disabled.
You need to disable TRIM or install on HFS+ instead of APFS.
Read here for more info:

So, I need run system_profiler SPSerialATADataType|grep TRIM in terminal?

That's done. But same problems. Won't sleep in HSierra and the battery icon has to be invoked, even with the latest kext.

It must be something else. I have disabled TRIM. (And do we know which SSDs don't play well with 10.13?)

The suggested battery kext isn't working, at least not in L/E.

And Windows 10 won't wake from sleep. The same symptoms as 10.13: The power button lights up, the WiFi light is amber. The Windows is on a caddy in the optical bay. So, it's separate from the APFS-formatted drive. I don't think it's a mechanical failure outside of this kind of discussion. But the only way to know is swap drives, turn off UEFI boot, and see what happens with only the Windows SSD being invoked.

Not really. Even though you forgot to press enter, I can tell you have TRIM enabled because the patch is clearly enabled in config.plist (even though current files in github have it disabled).

No idea what you mean by "that" in "that's done".

No "Problem Reporting" files attached.
Read FAQ, "Problem Reporting" again. Carefully. Attach all requested files/output.

Likely a hardware problem.

That's done = TRIM is disabled. I have an HDD with 10.12.6, I will boot from that one and see if the sleep is not waking. I booted from it via Clover on the SSD (with 10.13), but the HDD wouldn't wake either.

I should try to boot off the Windows SSD without going through Clover, too. That might rule out hardware problem. But it seems odd to have one like this after owning this sturdy laptop since early 2012.

Any change requires new problem reporting files.

Okay. Tomorrow. I need to rule out hardware, which is another matter.

UPDATE: I reinstalled the new BIOS and this fixed the sleep problem for both High Sierra and Windows 10. :headbang:So, it was that. But the reason I updated the BIOS was to solve this problem.:banghead:

The DP connectors on the Ultraslim 2013 dock are connected through a Synaptics DP MST hub that is built into the dock. The hub may be interfering with detecting and using the displays because AFAIK OSX doesn't support MST hubs on Intel graphics.

HP 840 G1, High Sierra. When Undock, everything works great. When Dock, Got Panic when try to reboot.

You will probably need to patch the framebuffer appropriately.
It is your task, not mine.

Plus, no problem reporting files attached. Read post #1, "Problem Reporting" if you expect any ideas.

Erased my SSD and reinstalled 10.13 from scratch by following exactly the guide : it solved my sound issue and everything is working on my HP EliteBook 840 G3.

Thanks Rehabman ! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
Hi Der-3,

I also have an elitebook 8x0 G3 and recently did a fresh install of 10.13. However, I am having isssues with sleep (it will turn off display but will not wake from sleep). I see you have a working elitebook now. Did you experience any issues with sleep initially? If so, did you do anything to correct it?

Also, what wifi card are you running?

Rehabman, I will be posting reporting files shortly, as I just installed 10.13.
