Vega Frontier Edition on High Sierra

Works OOB, but it's still buggy

RXVega 64 (not the Frontier edition) does NOT work OOB. You need the graphics kext to get all the ports working. Otherwise you only get 1 DP and 1 HDMI working.

So Vega still doesn't work OOB? But, Dell 5K works on it after the patch...

RX Vega (not FE) doesn't. You need the Graphics Kext patch to get all the ports working. Now it still better than Nvidia. But I won't call it OOB.

Does Vega 56 work OOB? or Vega FE?

I'm planning to build a fully OOB system. Aiming for 7700K for that, but not sure what GPU would work. I presume 960 Pro NVMe does work now, and probably there are boards that also work fine...

You can buy even the RX 64 . Its just a small clover Kext patch which you won't have to modify on every upgrade. Also with FE, some faced the same issue that 1DP was working (there is a post on tonymac).

AFAIK all Vegas have the same issue where certain apps are crashing or the whole system freezes. For those apps, you need to turn off gpu acceleration.

One thing, overall, this is the most stable hack in many years where almost everything works ALMOST OOB for me with little monkeying.

This is promising. I'm still waiting for a price drop on a CPU but other than that, I'm ready to get my first hackintosh build up and running with the Vega RX 56 as my GPU.

Do you know how to deactivate GPU acceleration for Electron apps?

Has anyone tried the new 10.13.1 beta 2?

Also for the electron apps has anyone tried:

--ignore-gpu-blacklist?

This works but I have to remember to start all the apps from terminal now.

Yeah, so that's weak sauce. But are you betting the Vega winds up with legit fully working drivers sometime before the ends of the year since the iMac Pro is being launched then?
