Solving NVIDIA Driver Install & Loading Problems

I tried to install Nvdia web drivers but didn't work giving the error " this installer is not for your build" But couldn't find web drivers for this build, that's strange as I downloaded 10.11.6 from Apple Store yesterday. Tried all for 11.6 from WebDriver-346.03.15f03 to f08 (should I give the 09 a try?). Actual build is:

System Version: OS X 10.11.6 (15G1010)
Kernel Version: Darwin 15.6.0
Boot Volume: SystemX

Thanks to https://www.tonymacx86.com/posts/1590656/ I finally was able to install web drivers, but now it doesn't work!!
Followed the guide on Problem #6 of original post, installed new Clover with both option, but still no way to select web drivers.
In the Nvidia Control Panel at slot #1 my GTX 970 is not recognized.

The system info shows only 8 mb vram so I'm back to the glitches before fixing HD530 that now works perfectly including Cinema Display 23" recognizance.

What next to solve the problem? Please let me know!

It looks like Apple has pushed a new release of 10.11.6 which happens every time there is a security update. You will have to wait until there is a driver available or you can try modifying the NVDAStartupWeb.kext with your build number.

Hi Jim and thanks for your suggestion, but which version should I edit, the latest for 11.6 or the old beta that I finally installed but partially working ( glitches, 8MB instead of 4000, ....) as in my previous post?

If you are going to edit the driver then you should use the most recent version. The beta driver should work fine though so it sounds like you are having issues enabling the driver instead of having issues with the driver itself.

You right, I finally succeeded following his guide https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/gigabyte-z170x-ultra-gaming-skylake-build-el-capitan.215351/

Succeeded in terms of driver showing the right card, right vram and no glitches. Just a slow start up compared with the HD530 one. This evening I'll do some real world test to see how well is recognized...
And trying to solve shutdown/sleep issues... but I'm happy by now! Txs![/QUOTE]

UPDATE: Real world test went ok, good, Nvidia gtx works nicely

Pascal Support is HERE!
----------------------------
As of the 10.10.5 driver there are no longer the checks in the distribution file for system profile and if the hardware is installed. It only checks for the OS X build number. This makes problems 1 and 3 obsolete.

...
Still can't get it to reboot with NVIDIA drivers

solved

I have a GT 740 with DDR5 and I fixed the blank screen issue for the native drivers using Lilu and Nvidia fix plugin but I wanted to install the web drivers as I saw some issues that I think that are related to the graphics drivers and I also saw some other reports here that DDR5 variant is not working properly with the native drivers and unfortunately the fix doesn't work for web drivers also, I get blank screen.
I can confirm that the system is working, I can ssh on it and see the loaded drivers as in the screenshot.

I also have the device renamed to GFX1 from SSDT but didn't help either.

I've tried all the fixes from the initial post but I cannot fix the lost of signal only when using web drivers. nv_disable=1 doesn't work for me either the graphics is not initialised it just returns in text mode if I am in verbose mode.

If anyone has any suggestion what to try more it will be great. I attached the config.plist also. The Nvidia web drivers are not explicitly enabled in them so I can enable them manually from clover boot screen when I want to test. macOS is High Sierra

I was having problems with getting the correct drivers installed with my geforce gtx 1060. I eventually located this thread with the links to the correct driver download.
  • I installed those and switched to web drivers but upon boot it wasn't checked and then i followed step 6 and rebooted and the web driver was checked.
  • However the monitor only displays in 1280x 1024.
  • In the about mac system report under graphics and displays it only shows the gpu as 5mb and the display is very stretched.
  • In the nvidia driver manager under ECC it shows no recognized devices
I am running El Capitan with an i7 quad core unlocked processor. my motherboard is an asus rog maximus ix hero and the GPU I'm trying to run is an EVGA Geforce GTX 1060.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

There is no support for Pascal GPUs in El Capitan. You must be running at least 10.12.4 with the 378.05.05.05f01 driver.
