I managed to install my MSI RX580 Gaming X 8GB on my X99 Hackintosh using GTX970 as helper card. But the compute units is still 16 even after i try the baffin ellesmere script. Is there any other way to enable 36 compute units in sierra 10.12.6?

Can you use RX580 to boot directly ?

Do you use IGPU and then Hot swap to RX580 ?

I'm in MacOS Sierra 10.12.3

My main aim is to use this Hackintosh for FCPX.

@jhenu Nope didn't do hot swap, I am blind booting. Basically when I turn on my computer the screen is black, after a while the Sierra login screen will appear.

Able to get Compute Units to 36, but the problem is when the compute units is 36, the speed is going down to 300mhz and when the compute units is 16, the speed is fast. did anybody experienced this?

I have MSI RX580 Gaming X 8GB. I measure it using luxmark benchmarking software. and the information in that software is using 67DF, compute unit 36, speed is 300mhz. but when I changed 67EF, the speed is 1.3ghz but the compute units is 16. cant get any way to get both 36 compute units and speed 1.3ghz.

I was able to enable the RX 580 with Sierra 10.12.6
My motherboard is a Gigabyte H97M-DS3P, i7 4790 3.6ghz, 32gb, RX 580 8gb.

To work with sucess, you place kexts “Lilu and Green” inside the System / Library / Extensions.
It did not work when I put it in the Others folder in EFI.

I believe that on ASUS motherboards, it should work in the EFI Others folder, but on my Gigabyte H97M, I could only put the kexts in S / L / E.

Disable on Bios the option integrated graphics and change IGFX to PCIe.
I did not mark the clover "Inject ATI" or "Inject Intel"

The only problem is in time to recognize the HDMI of the TV. I edit in the Final Cut X with a Philips 43 TV.

1) If I restart the Hack, I can see the mace and load normally.
2) If the Hack is off. After calling, I can only see from the login screen.

If anyone knows how to solve HDMI problem on the TV by the time I turn on the Hack, I'd be very grateful.

To reduce this problem, I have to turn on the Hack, and quickly disconnect the HDMI cable from the RX 580 and connect again. This way I can see an apple logo and the loading bar.
I think the problem is the time the RX 580 card spends to enable the TV's HDMI.

The acceleration with Final Cut X is running at 100%.
Confirmed that AMD better cards for FCPX due to OpenCL when compared to Nvidia cards.

I changed my GTX 1060 6gb with less than a month of use, for this RX 580.
There is not much difference compared to the old GTX 970 G1 Windforce with the GTX 1060 editing in FCPX.

For Adobe Premiere it would be another reality, Nvidia and CUDA acceleration.

I was able to return the RX 580 to a store and a difference in cash, but it's worth it to anyone who edits with Apple applications "FCPX, Motion 5, Compressor".

Hi on my real Mac Pro 5,1 2010 running 10.12.6. I just installed a Sapphire RX 580 Nitro+ 4GB version. No Boot screen. Login screen works as normal. Is recognised as "AMD R9 xxx 4096 MB" Metal is Supported, All resolutions over DP work on my 27" Dell Screen (No Audio over DP yet). Lux Bench Score 13794 - Geekbench 4 OpenCL test 132695. Blows the original 5770 away. System Profile can't display PCI tab as says error gathering information. Am going to download and test 10.13 beta soon. All 36 GPU units are recognised but no idea if the PCIE bus is running at half 2.5 or full 5G link speed.

**Update macOS High Sierra Beta - PCI profile is now readable and confirms 2.5 Link Speed. Card is still recognised as a "AMD R9 xxx" but all benchmark apps show "RX 580 Compute Engine"
