Small update:

I switched my Toshiba THNSN5256GPUK NVME drive with a Samsung 850 Evo M.2 SATA drive.
With the Beta files, I also included a kext to support SATA drives.
SMART works OOB, TRIM has to be enabled with sudo trimforce enable.

I'm happy to report that power saving features work for this SATA drive, whereas the NVME was always in High-power mode.

I think I gained 1-2 hours of battery life, and now the laptop's bottom lid is completely cold to the touch.
I'll report battery life after a few days of testing.

Also, being the lid way colder, battery cells are kept colder, thus slowing down their ageing.

2) SATA drive while idling: look closely, you'll notice the small CPU and SSD controller power burst, then the SSD goes to Lo-power mode.

Is anyone interested in my THNSN5256GPUK drive? It's already 4k formatted.

Wait...the Tosh NVME's don't support power saving?? Surely this problem has been fixed in firmware and/or does not exist on Windows? Can anyone corroborate this?

No one ever confirmed that NVME power savings work correctly on Hackintoshes...

So I manage to patch the DVMT without killing my laptop : ) ... I also downloaded OSX sierra 10.12.3 and created the USB boot disk using my mac.. This is where I need some help.. All those patches in the guide including the DSDT patches are done before or after the installation ?

ACPI patching is a post-install task.

Small follow-up to the SATA drive swap.
I notice greatly (20%) improved battery life with the SATA drive, with no discernible speed difference.
The bottom lid stays completely cold.
If you want to swap your drive for a bigger one, definitely go with a SATA one.
Samsung 850 EVO M.2 is a good choice.

I think that we have ironed-out all the small issues of the 10.12.5 hot-patching assets, so I'll update the main guide in a few days.

EDIT:
10.12.6 is out, so we'll skip 10.12.5 and go directly to 10.12.6!
