Black Screen with MacPro 6,1 or iMac 15 or iMac 17 System Definition

Just a thanks and a heads up for 10.12.5 users with GA-Z68-XP motherboards and using iMac 12.2 definition.

Updating from 10.12.4 to 10.12.5 added the black screen after the clover boot screen.
Using "NvidiaGraphicsFixup with Lilu in Clover/Kexts/Other" corrected the problem.

I glanced over the recommend install of "NvidiaGraphicsFixup with Lilu in Clover/Kexts/Other" thinking it was more for newer motherboards, graphic cards and different SMBIOS definitions. Didn't think it applied to my four year old plus setup using iMac 12.2 definition. Well it did fix the black screen! Many Thanks!

Also I noticed once the screen was working there was a progress bar informing me there were 13 minutes left to install 10.12.5. What would have happened if I just let the install run it's course with the black screen?

Thanks again to tonymac86 site!

Use MultiBeast and select MacPro5,1 which is close enough and only mods one kext. See the MultiBeast Features document.

Well, I switched to the iMac 15,1 system definition, because it has the Haswell 4790K. Geekbench scores are average (~20000) but Final Cut Pro Bruce X 5K benchmark storms through in 15-16 seconds. Looks like the SMBIOS fits.

How do you get 15 sec in Bruce with an Nvidia card? have you unchecked render in final cut prior to import xml?

Yup, unchecked "Background Render." To be honest, I'm also a little surprised, but hey, who's complaining! :headbang:

What's your score?

I try all method , but still not work :( ... so sad with MSI GeForce GTX 950

Chiming in to corroborate John V's report that this is also needed to fix things using the iMac 12,2 system definition. I just updated from 10.11.6 to 10.12.5, and started having the black screen problem after updating the web driver. Adding NvidiaGraphicsFixup with Lilu brought it back.

I didn't try switching to 14,2 because I didn't want to set my sysdef to something newer than what I actually have (Ivy Bridge: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H - Intel Core i5 3570K 3.4GHz - EVGA GeForce GTX 970 FTW+). Not sure whether this is a valid thing to be afraid of, but iCloud gets confused every time I play with the sysdef, so I'm happy to not have to switch it again.

Thanks all!

I'm pulling my hairs out. I can't seem to get it to work (MacPro 6,1). I can only boot when using nv_disable=1. If I don't use this flag I get a black screen, and I can't even connect to the system via remote desktop from another mac. It pops up as available, and I can connect to it and see the drives, but screen sharing doesn't work. I tried seemingly every trick in the book but to no avail. I don't understand it, I must be missing something.

Got an X99-AII with a i7 5960X and a GTX970. Latest webdrivers are installed. My separate SSD with Yosemite runs just fine with no issues at all. But Sierra just won't boot.

I'm not injecting Nvidia, I do inject Nvidia Web. My only bootflags are npci=0x2000 and kext-dev-mode=1. I did use AGDPfix, I do use Lilu.kext and NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext.

If you could help any further that would be so awesome. Thanks!

Already tried everything in this thread. Doesn't work. There has to be a mistake somewhere, but I don't seem to be able to find it. I built like 20 Hackintoshes already for myself and others, and I never ran into anything like this before. I'm stumped.
