If it could only be upgraded....
If you bought it "full bore," there's probably not much that would need to be upgraded for 10 years... for most "normal" users.

If you are in the high-end graphics world, yeah, I can understand why you might wish it could be upgraded...

Looks like Apple has read my Build and Guide and did react finally :lol::lol:.

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for such an incredible guide - even though I haven't used it ;) I've been doing my best to hold out for the last 12 months or so for the next big refresh from Apple (I had been hoping for a Mac Pro refresh this year) in order to build a new Hack Pro (been using an i7 2600k for the last few years and it's starting to feel its age). Just got to hold out another 6 months for an X299 mega build. Will be keeping a close eye on your guide when the iMac Pro hits...

What mobo/CPU did you use for the build? Your signature shows an Intel I7-7700K which I am pretty sure doesn't have 8-cores! :)
Yup, sorry, 4 cores! However, I still stand by 4 more cores not being worth $2k more... ;)

You mean like this one, an 8 core E5 2667 v4 for ~$2K? Or perhaps the older 8 core E5 1680v2 in the current Mac Pro which retailed for ~$1700?

Well, I just looked up the i7-7820X, and it is supposedly going to retail for $600. I can't seem to find pricing on the x299 boards though...

but, yeah, that's a seriously expensive processor you found! ;)

EDIT: However, if one has the cash, and really needs the compute power, then that's not a problem. ;)

The guide and the final product is amazing but daunting. Hopefully, after the iMacPro comes out TMX86 will offer a Xeon Buyers Guide stream and the builds will be as easy as the regular ones.
