macOS 10.12.5 Update

Yes, I am seeing this since updating to 10.12.5, also. This is on an H170 system with ELSA GTX 1050 ti. Clover r4061. In my case, it is a reboot, not a freeze, unless I use the Clover option to not reboot on panic. But there is no panic text written out to the screen, like normal. Presumably because graphics-related panic?

Did you use NvidiaGraphicsFixup? I have that installed, because I use iMac17,1 definition. I'm trying to determine if the freeze / KP or whatever might be related to that. I also have the option to use AGPDFix, so I might try that or I might go back to 10.12.4 - I don't know.

Hi, I did not install NvidiaGraphicsFixup or AGPDFIX. I used 10.12.4 with my geforce 770. This card died, then I installed the 1050ti and it worked. After reinstalling 10.12.4 and the old Nvidia drivers, I had the same issues... no idea what the problem is...

Thanks. I am also going to try to confirm I'm okay on 10.12.4, I think.

Look up at 1st page, there's error(s) when updating to 10.12.5 for intel HD520, but I didn't have any problem when updating my hackintosh.

Has anyone tried the 10.12.5 version for 2017 iMacs?

This update:

  • Fixes an issue where audio may stutter when played through USB headphones
  • Improves reliability when connecting an external display or waking it from sleep
  • Enhances compatibility of the Mac App Store with future software updates
  • Adds support for media-free installation of Windows 10 Creators Update using Boot Camp

I have been putting off updating for a while and I haven't been following best practices at all. =/. I got hasty and didn't back up because I still had an el capitain install that I could use to login to fix things. I can't remember what version I'm upgrading from, heh.

As my profile mentions, I'm using a Gigabyte Z97X-UD3H with a GTX 660 without issue on some version of 10.12. I tried the update through the mac store and I'm getting a black screen after booting in normal or safe mode. nv_diaable=1 did not help, screens were in sleep mode on boot.

Any suggestions? Here are screenshots of normal and safe mode right before the black screen if that helps. Oh and my monitors are actually on, just not showing anything but black. If left for a while, the screens actually go to sleep and whenever i bring it back from sleep, I actually see the mouse pointer for a second.

Finally got around to doing the update yesterday, failed at first, showing similar issues on boot to others with similar specs to myself.

Struggled and struggled with it until finally, I simply put the Lilu.kext and IntelGraphicsFixup.kext in just my Library/Extensions, and voila, it worked.

I think I had copies of the Lilu.kext and IntelGraphicsFixup.kext in S/L/E and L/E at the same time before, and maybe that was screwing it up? Not exactly sure what changed honestly, but it works now, so woohoo!

About to attempt clean install of Sierra 10.12.5 using an ASRock H170M ITX/ac motherboard and a i5 6500 processor.

I'm a little confused as to whether the Lilu and IntelGraphicsFixup kexts require to be installed or not. I'm planning on using the integrated HD530 graphics only. Appreciate if someone could advise whether these two kexts are required and if so where they should be installed to on the EFI partition.

Thanks.

Texangeek try reading the first post in this thread word for word. I'll bet you'll find the solution there...it will probably slap you in the face.

I did a fresh installation on a MSI B85M-E45 mobo but I didn't understand how to choose what to tick in Multibeast. Could anyone help me please?
