Apple Updates MacBook, MacBook Pro and iMac with Kaby Lake CPUs

Well, since the Apple store quotes me a delivery for this Thursday (i.e 2 days time) on the new standard iMac models with their new GPUs, DDR4 RAM and updated CPUs, does this mean we should expect 10.12.6, with lots more lovely hardware support, by Wednesday/Thursday too?
:)

I think historically the newly released models had some customised versions of OSX installed on them to support the new features, and then those features landed into the main codebase later on. So the new iMacs/MacBooks might come with customised 10.12.5, and then the new features (updated drivers) might be available to everybody in 10.12.6 or even 10.13.0.

A Radeon Pro 580 runs $900, so, know, I don't think they're [nVidia] too expensive...

Maybe Apple can't justify their markup for using them???
What Apple pays and what the retail price is bear no relation to each other!

Will a Custom Mac work with Apple File System?

I disagree. No company would be daft enough to charge "[significantly] more" for something that consumers could pay less for themselves, or, get better value for elsewhere.

And while Apple seems to create an exception to this rule, they're learning that doesn't really work.

EDIT: And, manufacturers DO have lower-limit pricing, etc. - that's a complicated matter. It still bears against "retail" in some fashion.

Otherwise, why Hackintosh? ;)

You're assuming there is a fixed number of these cards that AMD can sell. That's not the case. If Apple write a contract for say 1,000,000 units over 2 years, AMD will just build out (or more likely just order) manufacturing capacity to supply Apple. Since very few end users buy graphics cards from 3rd party suppliers for their Macs for various reasons, this would be almost pure extra revenue and profit, guaranteed, and AMD would offer Apple a small margin over manufacturing cost, ie very cheap.

I would rather approach this from a different angle - AMD is willing to manufacture cards at a lower cost than nVidia to land Apple's business. That, I think, is more the truth of it.

When new models come out they have a different Build of the current OS. I ran into issues with this before with restoring the same 10.x.x OS onto new model MacBook Pros that shipped with a different Build. You have to either create a new DeployStudio image from scratch just for that model or wait for the new 10.x.y update to come out, update an imaged Mac and create a new DeployStudio image that will work on all our models. They thought the logic board was bad because of no sound, but it was the different audio chipset that had no support in the other Build of 10.x.x

If you look under About this Mac it shows the Build.
