Likely USB problem. Or something else...
Your hardware predates my experience.

You need a specific IOPCIFamily.kext to solve some PCI initialisation problems, besides an old AppleACPIPlatform.kext to solve other problems, but I don't think they will work with sierra, other infos and kexts here (notebook very similar to yours): https://code.google.com/archive/p/acer-aspire-6930g/downloads and here http://marchrius.altervista.org/blog/?p=15

i've installed os on this machine long time ago (10 years ago ) it was my 2nd laptop....
so:
SMBIOS must be MacBookPro3,1;
you can install sierra;
if you plan to use windows and sierra you need to partitioning in MBR (I do not recommend you hybrid-GPT)
if you plan to use only sierra you can partitioning in GPT, clover support GPT partition on Legacy BIOS

easter egg:
this laptop have a MXM graphic card, bios is moddable...
this laptop suffers high temps pay attention....

you have to use clover... you can install macos using gpt partitition than install clover in fat32 partition using installer.... (if you plan to use only macos...)
