[HELP] My Switchable Graphics option in BIOS keeps resetting after reboot!

Status
Not open for further replies.
Yes. Not needed.
Why remove? My battery is working thanks to that patch + ACPIBatteryManager, and that's not my problem because the problem occured before I patched battery.

Whenever changes are made, you must provide new "Problem Reporting" files and an update on the current issue...

Attached new Problem Reporting folder.

Also, those are all my patches:

Patches:

DSDT:
RTC Fix
Battery.txt
End. Intel 8 Series Chipset Family USB Host Controller.txt
Add DTGP.txt
Renamed EHC1 to EH01
Renamed EHC2 to EH02
OS Check Fix (Windows 8)
HPET Fix
SMBUS Fix
IMEI Fix
AC Adapter Fix

Also attached: the two .txt file patches

The patch is not necessary therefore should have never been applied.

Comments:
- use MacBookPro11,1 not MacBookPro11,5
- your ioreg shows Nvidia enabled. You might want to disable it for power savings...
- if you want to leave it enabled, you should probably implement dGPU PM (rename PEGP->GFX0)
- Google Chrome is hooking your USB ports (read related topic in FAQ)
- HaltEnabler might be a bad idea...
- SortedOrder not necessary now...
- way too many "Fixes" in config.plist/ACPI/DSDT/Fixes (remove them all)

The patch is not necessary therefore should have never been applied.
Without that patch, my battery is only visible sometimes. Most of the time it shows the battery with an 'x' in it.

You sure not 11,2 or 11,5?

- your ioreg shows Nvidia enabled. You might want to disable it for power savings...
I don't want to waste time disabling NVIDIA until I can boot with iGPU only.

HaltEnabler disabled, SortedOrder cleared and all Fixes removed (that seems like a bad idea to me, but okay).

Some other mistake.
Read FAQ, "Problem Reporting"

Yes.

Huh?

HaltEnabler disabled, SortedOrder cleared and all Fixes removed (that seems like a bad idea to me, but okay).

Could you explain more please? I have read this thread a while ago and could not find many of those values, then I found the Battery.txt patch and this one worked flawlessly. Why should I remove it now? the patch is not my problem, because without patched DSDT.aml, my BIOS still resets the Switchable Graphics option every reboot.

I don't want to do the long process of disabling my NVIDIA card, when at the end I still have the same problem. (I can only use iGPU with Switchable Graphics on afaik)

I've added my config.plist in my edit, that's the only file I applied changes to...

Could you explain more please?

You mention a different problem without the "AC Adapter Fix".
I'm suggesting you retest and if you have a problem, attach "Problem Reporting" that represent that situation.
The patch you have applied is not needed and probably causes more problems than it solves.

No "Problem I have read this thread a while ago and could not find many of those values, then I found the Battery.txt patch and this one worked flawlessly. Keep in mind that if you disable the Nvidia from BIOS, you must re-extract DSDT and re-patch.

I've added my config.plist in my edit, that's the only file I applied changes to...

Need all "Problem Reporting" files. Edits to config.plist affect patchmatic -extract output and ioreg.
Please... why are you being impossible..??

you are going to want to disable nvidia via DSDT edits to save battery etc, whether now or later, but best done while you are patching DSDT etc

also, if you have made changes to config.plist, this will change settings in your ioreg etc, so it is best to reupload all problem reporting files

Okay I'm going to try the battery patching again, but as I said last time - I was not successful and I didn't know anymore what I was doing after 15 mins into patching.

Keep in mind that if you disable the Nvidia from BIOS, you must re-extract DSDT and re-patch.
I am using Switchable Graphics, does that mean disabling? If yes, I only booted with Switchable Graphics = enabled the entire time (aswell when extracting) But if you know another way to use iGPU only in MacOS and NVIDIA (optionally Optimus) in Windows/Linux that would probably solve my whole problem.

I am sorry. I just want to use my iGPU only without problems, and it's very frustrating because I don't know what to do.

Attached: All the files for Problem Reporting.

With all the Clover changes you told me about earlier (disabling all fixes, HaltEnabler, etc), my USB isn't working.. Can't use my Mouse. Only Trackpad & Keyboard.

if you can disable your nvidia graphics via BIOS, then you won't need to disable nvidia via DSDT if you can disable, you will then have to extract fresh dsdt (F4 in clover screen)

There is likely an existing patch in my laptop repo.
But your profile is not filled out as per FAQ, so I have no idea even which laptop you have...

By switchable graphics, you mean Optimus, right?
Did you try "Shutdown Fix" patch?
Does the problem happen with Apple->Shutdown or just Apple->Restart?
