I have now finished a new "2.0" version of the Pro Speakers USB conversion

It uses a PAM8403 Class D amplifier board. They are available for about nothing on eBay. The audio signal comes from a USB sound adapter. The sound quality is much better than with the old version.

Attached are some pictures of the conversion process.

hello thank you for all from Savoie (france) :) not faraway ...
in the version 3 didn't you change the 1000uF 6,3v for an other? what is the voltage of your 2.2uF capacitor at the end? did you only replace the first one by this one or more things?

Hi,
sorry for the late reply. The supply cap is 1000uF / 6.3V.

The coupling caps on the PCM2704 board were bridged, because the amplifier board also has coupling caps.

BTW: I've added a Cube review video to post #1

Hi MacTester,

Sorry to revive an old thread. I noticed that you are using a Sony BC-5600S Blu Ray drive in this cube build? Does yours work out of the box and is it still working in Mojave?

I recently picked one up (Sony BC-5600S) but it doesn't seem to work with my build. It shows in System Information however if I insert a disc it makes some chugging noises and doesn't read. I can't eject the disc with the keyboard either I have to use some 3rd party blu ray software to eject the disc again. I didn't think it would be so complicated but I can't get it working.

All the best,
Reilly
