[SOLVED] Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080/1070

Ok- after months of waiting (like most here), I was able to get my 1070/Mac running with the Pascal Beta drivers and Sierra- Yay! (Hats off to tonymacx86... this has to be the easiest rebuild ever). The only odd thing, and this might be because of the beta status of the drivers, is that "About This Mac" doesn't identify my 1070 card or it's memory correctly. It only says, "Graphics Unknown 256 MB" (Gah!). Otherwise, all is great.
Looks like the driver didn't load at all. Have a look at problem #6 in the Nvidia troubleshooting thread.

Guys I have a very peculiar problem. Basically I had my gtx 1070 running properly for the past few days with everything including audio working. Then yesterday my monitor just lost the signal while i was using it. No matter what I tried the hack didnt boot up WITH the graphics drivers. It worked if I used nvdisable. Since my last installation was so easy I just followed the same steps I did last time but even now the system doesnt load my graphics card. It just shows Nvidia 7mb or something like that. I disabled everything I didnt need and enabled the webdriver in configurator. I dont think I have changed my bios settings since the last install either. Does anyone have any Idea about what could be the problem? The last time my system was only working with the imac14,2 smbios but even that doesnt work now.

I have interesting experiences with my Gigabyte xTreme Gaming 1080. The driver will not display with the driver enabled. I figured it was mny Samsung 4K monitor and diplayport but no luck on any other ports. I tried a few changes with the system identifier with no luck.

On the flip side, my other hack box runs flawlessly with the 1050ti and a gigabyte z170-HD3 mother board. I'm not sure idf it's a case of the video card or the motherboard. I'd guess the 1080 is poorly supported by this driver.

1. Reset your BIOS, reconfigure it and install Sierra again. Update to latest BIOS version if available.
2. There is a newer beta of Nvidia web drivers 05f02. Try using that for fresh install
3. Remove and re-seat your 1070.
4. Check your Clover settings. Open config.plist in clover configurator (on another working hackintosh if possible) and uncheck all options like FixHDA, FixUSB, etc
Ive tried all your steps but they didnt work. And i only had inject intel checked which i unchecked and it still didnt work. Im on the latest nvidia driver now however my card is still not detected. The system only boots up when i use nv_disable

hmmm, now i wonder if the system definition is the culprit. I'm having a hard time understanding when you'd might change these. Is it not better to represent your "Mac" closer to the machine it's similar? Such as my UD5 6700K being an iMac 17,1 vs 14,2 even with the GTX-1080?

Since Sierra and latest web drivers, there is absolutely no need to use nv_disable flag. It has become redundant.
Hope you are using iMac 14,2 definition with custom generated serial number.

It's because I have a Haswell i7 4790 in my system. So I've tried all Haswell based configs in smbios. Also, since the drivers don;t load up I have to use the bootflag nvdisable and only then does my system boot

Much appreciated! Let me give this a try. This machine is pretty standard Gigabyte Z170 with 6700K. Nothing out of the ordinary in this case so I imagine it should work with some combination.

I am uploading my full efi partition for you. iMac definition is 14,2 and I have also changed the serial.
You can use it directly.

This is latest clover 4061. It is UEFI based with CSM disabled.

Included:
1. ACPI patches for USB 3
2. Kext Patches for USB 3 support
3. Minimalism theme
4. Trim enabled
5. Nvidia Web driver enabled
6. IntelMausiEthernet.kext and HDMIAudio.kext are in kexts/other folder

mount your efi and replace clover folder with mine.

PS: My EFI is only suitable if you have all these 3 things
1. Z170 and Z270 based motherboards with CSM disabled
2. Skylake CPUs. (If you have Kabylake CPU, do the extra tweak given below)
3. Nvidia Pascal/Maxwell based cards.

All others can also use my efi partition but you may need to modify it further.... spread the love. Credits to tonymacx86

Quick Kabylake CPU Guide

To boot, CPU ID needs to be spoofed. Go into Clover options at boot time and input the Skylake ID as FakeCPUID. Then just add the key and string in the KextandKernelPatches section of Clover's config.plist during post-installation.

Skylake CPUID: 0x0506E3

Or by manually editing config.plist
Code:
<key>KernelAndKextPatches</key>
<dict>
<key>FakeCPUID</key>
<string>0x0506E3</string>

Ok wow, that worked quite well. Tells me maybe there needs to be a clover update? I do need to tune the ethernet (for App Store login) and 1150 audio for my usage.

Begs the question, how can I safely do this since multibeast will replace the closer version? I'm linux skilled vs macOS low level so far.

Alright... let us know about your success.

Ok I have Ethernet working. I can't get audio working so I'm going to look around for the fix. I think I'll document this once I get everything working since it's all over the place on the site now.
